Professor of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University Sergey Dmitrievich Odintsov once again became one of the most quoted scientists of the world according to Thomson Reuters. Apart of him, only two Russian scientists managed to get into this prestigious list.

The postgraduate student of the Faculty of Culture and Arts of the TSPU, the soloist of the Tomsk Philharmonic, Yevgeny Steinmiller became a prize winner of the V International Vocalists' Competition named after Pavel Lisitsian.

58 young vocalists from cities of Russia and seven countries of the world - China, Italy, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia, Uzbekistan arrived in Vladikavkaz, the homeland of the opera singer Pavel Lisitsian, to participate in the competition. Tomsk was represented by a postgraduate student of the TSPU, soloist of the Tomsk Philharmonic - Eugene Steimiller.

- I applied for participation in the end of August, as soon as I found out about the contest, - says Eugene. - And immediately started to prepare arias and romances. Because the competition was held in two sections - opera and chamber.

Epitalam Vindeksa from the opera "Nero" by A. Rubinstein, a romance by Wolfram from "Tannhäuser " by R. Wagner, an aria of Eugene Onegin from the opera of the same name by PI. Tchaikovsky and Figaro's aria from "The Wedding of Figaro" by V.A. Mozart, four romances, including Tchaikovsky's romances, and one folk song "On Elnichku" - here with such musical baggage the baritone of the Tomsk Philharmonic went to the competition.

As a result, Yevgeny Steinmiller became a prize winner of the contest and was awarded with special diplomas and prizes from public organizations of Vladikavkaz. The organizers of the contest also expressed their gratitude to Svetlana Nikolaevna Kravchenko, professor of TSPU for her help in preparing the contestant for participation.

A fifth-year student of the Faculty of Technology and Entrepreneurship of the TSPU Alina Smirnova presented a scientific project at the III All-Russian Competition of Research Projects of Students and Post-Graduate Students of Universities and Scientific Academic Institutes of Russia in Natural, Technical and Humanitarian Sciences "Step into Science". 

The contest was held a week earlier in one of the universities of Tomsk. In the "Humanities" section Alina made a presentation on the topic "The impact of Internet addiction on the emotional sphere of schoolchildren and the means of its prevention". Following the results of a successful speech, the student of Tomsk State Pedagogical University was awarded with a diploma of the first degree.

In total, more than 400 scientific works of students and post-graduates of leading universities of Russia were submitted for participation in different categories of the competition including Moscow State University, . M.V. Lomonosov, Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia BN. Yeltsin, Kazan National Research Technical University. A. N. Tupolev, Novosibirsk State Technical University.

The purpose of the competition: the identification and support of new promising research projects and their authors; development of creative and scientific activity of university youth, strengthening of motivation for scientific research; raising the professional level of young professionals; popularization of new promising areas in science.

The traditional project of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University "Children of One Sun", implemented by the activists of the TSPU Volunteer Detachment "Point of View" for handicapped children has took place in the new academic year.

Last weekend the volunteers of the Tomsk Pedagogical University met with kids and their parents from the city of Seversk. This time, the entertaining and educational program was devoted to "Magic". At the festival, the children had to face the evil witch who wanted to "steal" fun, but children were able to return her faith in kindness. The lessons in chemistry and the demonstration of incredible experiments, dances with volunteers and guitar songs - the festival was filled with adventures and fun!

After an entertaining part of the day, the participants, together with their parents, went through a series of master classes where they learned how to make magic wands and created their own space in a bottle. In the end, each participant was awarded the "Wizard's Certificate".

The meeting ended with a friendly tea-party with ballons.

Students of the Faculty of History and Philology of the TSPU marked the 100th anniversary of the 1917 revolution by visiting the Tomsk Regional Museumnam . M.B. Shatilov.

They visited the exhibition "When the Trees were Big", the exhibition "Under the constellation of the Big Elk: the secrets of the Kulai universe", devoted to the history of the Kulay archaeological culture, got acquainted with the project "Sibiryaki free and involuntary", dedicated to the memory of those people who, had left their native places by their own will or by the will of those in power and went to Siberia.

Students-historians were particularly impressed, by the exhibition "Revolution in Focus" which was prepared by the museum staff for the centennial anniversary of the 1917 revolution. At the exhibition you could see more than a hundred photographs from the album of an unknown photojournalist who recorded all the events taking place in Tomsk in 1917, get acquainted with telegrams, leaflets of the election campaign and the newspaper "Siberian Life".

Thanks to these images, it is possible to trace changes in people's moods, plunge into the revolutionary atmosphere of the city: photos show demonstrations, rallies, soldiers of the Tomsk garrison, crowds of students, queues of ordinary workers, their emotions.

“Mysteries of prime numbers” lection of the famous Russian scientist, popularizer of Math Aleksey Savvateev was conducted at the TSPU. In his lesson for participants from Tomsk and the Tomsk region, the lecturer talked about how beautiful mathematical hypotheses and theories are born, about unsolved problems in the theory of prime numbers, Euclidean algorithm, concepts of isomorphism etc. The meeting was interesting not only for the scientific and methodical community of the city - experienced teachers, university teachers, scientists and methodologists – but also for schoolchildren who are keen on mathematics. 

The graduate of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University, the head of the Center for Patriotic Education of the TSPU, school teacher of history and social studies, Konstantin Cherenkov held a convincing victory in the professional contest "Knight Of Education - 2017", which was conducted as part of the All-Russian Forum of Educational Practices.

Participants of the competition in the field of pedagogical skill were male teachers, teachers of additional education, teachers of higher educational institutions, working part-time in educational institutions. Applicants for the title of "knight of education" had passed two stages: correspondence and full-time. In the first round, the teachers submitted to the jury a clause on the topic "Knight in Education - what does this mean?" The second stage included a creative presentation and an educational tournament, the main task of which was to check the skills of participants to solve pedagogical problems.

The final stage that revealed the best of the male teachers of the Tomsk region, included four contestants. The representative of TSPU Konstantin Anatolyevich Cherenkov became winner of the competition and was awarded with the title of "Knight Of Education - 2017". "Knighting" was held at the closing ceremony of the competition.

The Tomsk State Pedagogical University was included in the list of the leading universities according to the QS World University Rankings: EECA. Among the all pedagogical universities of Russia the Tomsk State Pedagogical University takes the first place and the 32th place among the all universities of Russia. TSPU took 132 place in total rating,

The experts noted the high position of our university in all nine criteria of the rating, and in terms of the scientific citation of publications "Citations per Paper" the TSPU ranks first among all universities represented in the rating.

The "QS University Rankings: Emerging Europe and Central Asia (EECA)" rating was first published in 2014. In 2017, around 3000 universities participated in the rating, and the published part of the rating included the top 300 universities in the region, of which 97 are Russian.

This autumn the biggest event for active youth of the whole world takes place on October the 15^th. 185 countries, more than 25 thousand participants and seven days of intensive work program - all this is the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students (WFMS) in Sochi.

Traditionally, our students took active part in this event and demonstrate their skills and abilities. The Tomsk State Pedagogical University is represented by the team of leaders of student government of the TSPU. Every day, young people are given the opportunity to express themselves in various forms of business communication, to learn and share experience at conferences and seminars, to visit exhibitions and discuss problems of different countries, to participate in fairs, sports and cultural events, to establish partnerships for mutually beneficial development and to defend the honor of Tomsk Pedagogical University.

The World Festival of Youth and Students has been held since 1947. In the 50s - early 60s festivals were held under the slogan "For peace and friendship", later - "For anti-imperialist solidarity, peace and friendship". Since 2001, every subsequent Festival has a new slogan, which is traditionally approved at the first international preparatory meeting for the upcoming Festival.

This year the Festival is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution and the 70th anniversary of the festival movement. The slogan of the World youth festival 2017: "For peace, solidarity and social justice, we are fighting against imperialism - respecting our past, we are building our future!" During the working week, youth representatives will undergo a chain of events related to the daily changing themes: Day of America, Africa, East, Asia and Oceania, Europe, Russia.

In September and October the creators of the TSPU’s ecological project «Art-chaos. Garbage wind» have conducted four workshops for teachers and pupils of Toms and Tomsk region. The first three events took place in Asino and the last workshop was organized within the walls of the TSPU Scientific library. There were two sections: one aimed for teachers and another for students.

A total of about two hundred people took part in these events, and four animated films were made. And starting from October 10, 2017, the reception of competitive works for participation in the new phase of the project «ART-CHAOS. Garbage breeze» has started.
