On the last weekend second-year students of the TSPU became the participants of the traditional festival of sport, creativity and tourism «Startus». This year the festival was held in «The year of volunteer» theme.

Eight of the most active and creative representatives of each faculty of the university were fighting for the "Friendship" cup and other festival awards for three days, trying themselves in the obstacle course, hiking trail and in various sports, resisting their fears, participating in games, contests and extreme quests.

«On the first day, we tried ourselves in creative tasks: made up mottos inspired by Startus, showed creative business cards and actively took part in role-playing games aimed to to rallying the team, identification of leaders etc. The second day, the day of tourism, was even more intense and caused very mixed emotions. Starting from the eatly morning, the captains of the teams hurried to pass the tourist trail and obstacle course in order to lead their teams through the same route, - says Vera Plotnikova the captain of one of the teams. - It was difficult, but all fought to the end, trying to overcome the test in the minimum time. However, this was only the beginning of the day ... In the second half we became participants of the "Shining" game, where everyone had to fight with their own fears. There was a goal - to assemble parts of the broken reactor and "repair" the mechanism. During the game the lights were cut-off on all the territory of the "Health" Center, where the "Startus" passed and only the red searchlight illuminated the road, and the silence of the forest was disturbed by the howling of the siren. We had to contact insects, a real python, as well as to dodge gamers who frightened and prevented testing. So much adrenaline!

On the third day of competitions, everyone was able to shoot from the air rifle, play laser tag, show oneself in tug-of-war, and cross the crossfit path, which seemed the heaviest trial of them all».

The second year of the "basics of robotics" course has started at the TSPU Youth Educational Robotics Center for kids 6-7 years old. Together with teachers of the Center kids learn the basics of educational platform LEGO WeDo 2.0.

For one day the activists of the "Point of view" squad of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University became teachers for eighth graders of the School No. 36 in Tomsk and conducted several lessons in order to popularize the ideas and values ​​of volunteering.

From the theoretical part of the lessons the students learned about the main directions and principles of the volunteer movement, the work of the volunteer detachment "Point of view" of the TSPU, the opportunities that our city provides for volunteers. During the practical part of lessons, the children, were divided into small groups, developed projects of volunteer activities for their school and for the city as a whole.

In the center for Polish language and culture of the TSPU representatives of the University have met with their Polish colleagues to discuss issues of education in schools throughout the different countries. The title of the round table was «The problem of implementing educational training in schools in Russia and Poland: traditions, experience, innovations». Among the participant were:

Within the framework of scientific communication, participants discussed the issues of the school life, school behavior, educational programs and organization of leisure activities, extra-curricular and after-hours work of students. Teachers paid special attention to inclusive education, as well as the prospects for implementing the pedagogical ideas of Janusz Korczak in schools in Russia and Poland.

The visit of the Polish delegation to the Tomsk State Pedagogical University was made possible by the project of the Polish and Tomsk general schools "Together for Education". The next stage of the project will be the visit of Siberian teachers to Poland.

«ART-CHAOS. Garbage wind» a project of regional level, that was developed by students and teachers of the TSPU, has been started. The main goal of the project is to provoke a sense of environmental responsibility among Tomsk citizens and residents of the region through promotion of ​​a reasonable restriction in the consumption and even a complete rejection of things that cause irreparable harm to nature, as well as civilized waste management. The participants of the «ART-CHAOS: Garbage wind» can become pupils of preschool institutions, students of regional and municipal educational organizations of all levels, cultural institutions, teachers of regional and municipal educational organizations, employees of cultural institutions, members of public organizations, initiative groups.

Nominations of the project:

- Educational and methodological development of environmental issues.

- Social project of ecological problems.

- Art object from waste materials.

- Animation film on an environmental theme.

The Children's Center for Educational Robotics of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University summarized the results of the first week of the new academic year. The teachers of the Center conducted classes in the design, programming and technical creativity for 12 different age groups. Educational activities were attended by 76 talented and initiative students who showed impressive results in assembling houses and robots from LEGO kits.

Activists of the Center for patriotic education have organized the first festival of historic reenactment «Kulikovo autumn» to awake patriotic feelings of students. Eight teams from TSPU, SibGMU and Tomsk Highway Technical School gathered on the TSPU stadium to become participants in a series of combat and sport events. Students experienced themselves in throwing knives and spears, shooting the medieval bow, fought with a use of training swords and shields, played the Russian ball game "Kila".

In addition, everyone was able to visit the historical site, which included interactive photo zones, workshops on traditional Russian crafts and Russian folk dances.

Bad weather did not stop the participants: heavy rainfall interrupted the competition several times, but it was not an obstacle to the victory! The team of the faculty of physical culture and sports of our university became the winner of the first festival «Kulikovo autumn». Certificates of participants, invaluable experience and photos were became the prize of all the participating teams.

Today in the scientific library of the TSPU the XVIII All-Russian conference «Russian literature in modern cultural environment: childhood in literature and literature about childhood». Specialists from Tomsk, Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Barnaul, Surgut, Moscow, Ekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Ulan-Ude, as well as foreign researchers from the Czech Republic and Ukraine gathered for scientific communication and discussion of topical issues of literature for children in the TSPU.

Within the two days (September 7-8) scientists will discuss a wide range of issues related to the history of the development of children's literature, its current state, including examples of works by specific authors. The program will include round table "Regional Children's and Youth Literature: Problems and prospects of its study ", workshop “Methodological approaches to work with texts for children's and youthful reading " and sectional sessions.

Associates of the Tomsk State Pedagogcal University have met with Liya Wang,principal of the foreign languages institute of the Harbin Institute of Petroleum. At the meeting, the sides discussed the further cooperation between universities in the areas of academic exchanges, pre-school education programs, and refresher courses.

Two universities are already connected by a rich history of cooperation: the students of the Harbin Institute of Petroleum has successfully study the Russian language at the language courses organized by TSPU, then continue their education at the main faculties of our university, and also participate in academic exchanges. This year, 36 people from the Harbin Petroleum Institute entered the TSPU. The students came both to the preparatory courses and to the basic training programs.

The first of September is a very important day not only for schoolchildren and students but also for everybody who is involved in educational process: principles, deans, teachers, curators, associates of educational institutions. That is why everyone, who thinks that Knowledge day is one of the most important events, has gathered in the assembly hall of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University.

First year students were the most honored guests of the concert. For them it was the first time that they enter the University in a new status - a student. The rector of the TSPU Valery Vladimirovich Obukhov opened the celebratory program with greeting words:

«Dear friends! I congratulate all those present, as well as the entire staff of the oldest pedagogical university in the east of the country with our common holiday - the Day of Knowledge! Traditionally the main words of congratulation are addressed to our freshmen. You guys were lucky to enter the best pedagogical university of the country: according to the rating of the international agency QS, Tomsk State Pedagogical University is the third among the universities of the BRICS countries, which is 40% of the population! It was not at all easy to enter Tomsk Pedagogical School. And you know this better than anyone. I am very glad that your new life begins with such great success! Vice rectors and deans of the TSPU told students about opportunities of the extracurricular activities and creative troupes of the University have greeted freshmen with the dancing and singing numbers. Then there were conversations in the narrow faculty circles: the deans and curators of the groups from among the students of the TSPU met their students and shared the specifics of the training at their faculties.

In the afternoon, all the freshmen met in the Teacher's Park to pass the "Tomsk Route" quest. Guys were divided into groups and followed the city route, studying the streets and sights of Tomsk, finding the curators of the TSPU and carrying out their assignments. More than 300 people, 10 competing teams, seven stations and only one and a half hours to overcome the path: despite the bad weather, the positive and eagerness to win helped the participants to cope with the task. Time was the main yardstick of victory: the three fastest teams were awarded with gift sets, which are sure to be useful to every student living in a dormitory. In addition, as part of the "Tomsk Route" was an additional contest for the most original team photo. Sweet prizes were given to creative first-year students of 2018!
