The annual summer project of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University "Summer in the city" has begun its work in the streets of Tomsk. Six cultural and educational platforms were opened for children staying at home for the summer holidays.

Active and educational entertainment was provided by the team of the Unicersity "The way of kindness"; sports and creative events, games, quests, workshops are awaiting kids of Tomks right on their backyards.
Every day (untill the 23th of June )  from 10.00 to 14.00 students will wait for the children at the playgrounds of our city. And on Monday, June 25, the first of four traditional shifts of the city camp will be launched, each of which will be stretched for two weeks (until the 17th of August).

Four shifts of "City summer" in 2018 will be take place in 32 yards. Exact addresses of the organization of the city camp will be placed immediately before the beginning of each shift on the TSPU website and in the official pages of the university in social networks.

The best of the best graduates of Tomsk universities participated in the annual party by the Governor of the Tomsk region at the Drama Theater.

This year, more than seven hundred undergraduate and graduate students of full-time and correspondence courses of Tomsk State Pedagogical University graduated with honors from the university. Representatives of TSPU together with graduates of other universities gathered in the main theater hall. The ceremony was opened by the Deputy Governor of the Tomsk Region on the scientific and educational complex Lyudmila Ogorodova: "Dear students, future researchers, teachers, dear rectors, you are the main people of Tomsk! And of course, today's holiday is the main holiday in our city. I congratulate you on behalf of the Governor of Tomsk region and the entire Administration. Universities in Russia were created to train specialsits for the whole Russia, but we are very pleased that more and more graduates are still working in the Tomsk region. We are so proud of you, and may Tomsk always be in your life!"

The leaders of all universities and key employers of the region addressed graduates the kindest words. On behald of the TSPU Andrei Nikolaevich Makarenko, the first vice-rector of the TSPU, made a speech for students of Tomsk universities. Svetlana Alekseevna Yaroslavtseva, director of Tomsk Secondary School No. 2, gave her farewells to the graduates on behalf of employers.

The organizers of the reception showed short presentations prepared by Tomsk universities, and graduates of this year shared their impressions of the time spent at their Alma maters.

At the end of the evening, invited to the reception of the graduates were awarded with memorable gifts - breastplates with a sculpture depicting Saint Tatiana , the famous patroness of students.

The Interfax news agency presented the results of the 9th annual National University Ranking. Tomsk State Pedagogical University has confidently confirmed its status as one of the leading universities of Russia, showing high results for all the indicators evaluated by the agency. TSPU took 51st place in the general ranking of higher educational institutions of Russia (according to the data by the Ministry of Education and Science in total 769 universities are registered in Russia).

According to the "University Brand" indicator, TSPU took the 25th position, improving the result of 2017.

Brands of universities were evaluated by following indicators: contribution to the formation of the national elite, communication with target audiences, media activity, perception of research by international and Russian-speaking academic communities.

 Also, TSPU significantly improved last year's results in the areas of "Innovation and Entrepreneurship" (40 positions), "Education" (17 positions) and "Internationalization" (6 positions).

 Research project The National University Ranking (unirating.ru) has been implemented by the Interfax Group since 2010. Its purpose is to develop mechanisms and procedures for an independent evaluation system for Russian universities and their educational programs; increase the competitiveness of the Russian education system, scientific research and technological entrepreneurship and to develop federal and regional universities, whil will form a basis of a the new economy of the country.

"The Night with a Book" interactive project was held in Tomsk with the participation of the volunteers from  the "Point of view" team of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University.

Representatives of youth organizations, creative groups, participants of the volunteer movement met in the main square of the city and organized workshops, gaming, entertainment and educational grounds, a big concert.

TSPU, activists of the volunteer detachment "Point of View" told the guests about their activities and shared their experience in organizing and carrying socially significant events in Tomsk and the Tomsk region. The important cultural and educational project "Children of one sun", held in TSPU for children with disabilities, was not disregarded. Citizens were interested in the activities of our team and received informational leaflets about the mission of the "Point of View" and ways to implement it. Young Tomsk citizens received sweet presents from volunteers.

Enkhike Airez de Oliveira, a student at the Tomsk State Pedagogical University, who came in Tomsk as a part of the exchange program from the University of Joués de Fora (Brazil) and confirmed the high level of proficiency in Russian.

During the year, Enkhike studied at the Faculty of Technology and Entrepreneurship of TSPU, specializations of "Technology" and "Life Safety". He studied courses  technology of mechanical processing of materials and technical creativity. The student devoted much time to theoretical and practical studies of the Russian language, and in the second semester he actively attended lessons of "Russian as a foreign language" at the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​of TSPU.

In addition to training activities, Enkhike participated in university events. In last year's December he contributed to the organization of online meeting with representatives of the Brazilian University and told them about student life, work, self-government structures of TSPU and shared his impressions of Tomsk.

Enkhike wrote a final test Russian language as a foreign language and succesfully passed it and received the corresponding certificate of state standard.

Associate Professor of the Department of Medical and Biological Disciplines of TSPU Tatyana Tomova made a presentation at the 5th Congress of Pharmacologists of Russia "Scientific Foundations of Searching and Creating of New Drugs", which was held in Yaroslavl.

The report presented the results of scientific work, obtained in close cooperation with colleagues from Siberian State Medical University, Professor Tatyana Zamoshchina ("The Basic Chair of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biotechnology"), Associate Professor Svetlik Mikhail Vasilievich ("The Department of Medical and Biological Cybernetics with the course of medical computer science").

Tomsk State Pedagogical University keeps on maintaining relations with the Universities of China

TSPU delegation at Heilongjiang University (Harbin)

Delegation of the Tomsk State pedagogical University headed by the vice-rector of international activities C. E. Osetrin visited Heilongjiang University (Harbin). During the visit, the further cooperation between universities was discussed and as a result it was agreed to cinduct the first teleconference for the teaching staff on the matter of methodology for teaching Russian as a foreign language. The parties discussed the prospects of a joint project for the «Russkiy Mir» Foundation. It is also planned to prepare graduate students and teachers using the Russian-teaching methodology based on TSPU. Another outcome of the strengthening of international relations between the TSPU and the Heilongjiang Institute will be joint publications on the issues of teaching of Russian language. Chinese colleagues aslo showed great interest in video clips prepared by students of TSPU and it was decided to make joint videos on universities, cities and students' lives.

Harbin Institute of Petroleum

Within the framework of international cooperation representatives of the Tomsk State pedagogical University visited the Harbin Institute of Petroleum.

Tomsk and Harbin universities have been successfully cooperating for many years. During this mission, the delegation, headed by Vice-Rector for International Activities, K.E. Osetrin, visited a number of faculties to discuss prospects for further cooperation between universities.

In the next academic year, it is planned to receive students from China for training in the field of «Preschool education”. Also, the staff of the TSPU are ready to help colleagues from the Harbin Institute to develop the direction of «Preschool education» and to conduct distance courses for the upgrading of qualifications of the teaching staff.

In the near future, the Harbin Institute plans to open a department of preparation Russian language courses (for students planning to apply for the TSPU) that will allow students to enroll the main programs of Tomsk Pedagogical University.

For several years the students of the Harbin Institute of Petroleum have been successfully learning Russian at the preparatory courses of the TSPU, then continue their education at the main faculties, and also participate in academic exchange programs. In the new academic year, Tomsk Pedagogical University also expects a significant number of Chinese students, both for preparatory courses and for basic training programs.

Jilin University

In Changchun TSPU delegation visited Jilin University which is one of the universities-partners. As a result of the visit, a number of agreements were reached, designed to expand the cooperation of the two universities. In October 2018, a videoconference on the methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language will be held. In addition, the parties expressed willingness to participate in joint social projects. In the course of business communication representatives of TSPU and Jilin University discussed the possibility of conducting distance conferences . The joint publication of scientific journals and joint applications for grants in China and Russia were among the issues that drew much attention. Employees and teachers of TSPU are ready to provide expert assistance for the opening of the postgraduate courses at the University of Jilin.

Shenyang Pedagogical University

As part of a business trip to the universities of China, the delegation of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University visited the Shenyang University. Representatives of universities discussed the prospects for developing cooperation in various fields, including studying of Russian language. The Chinese side expressed great interest in research conducted at the Biological and Chemical Faculty of the TSPU in the field of engineering chemistry, biology, ecology, and biotechnology. An equally important part of the visit was discussion of issues related to the programs of academic exchanges between the two universities, as well as invitation of students from Shenyang to the preparatory department of the TSPU.

Shenyang Ligong University

 The delegations of the TSPU and Shenyang Polytechnic University met in the city of Shenyang. At the meeting, the possibility of cooperation in the areas of the Russian language as a foreign language was discussed. In addition, much attention was paid to the areas related to PR and the media, since they are the ones that cause the students of the Polytechnic University.

Every year, the Tomsk Pedagogical University helds a summer school for the study of the Russian language and culture for foreign students. Students from the Shenyang University also received an invitation to participate in the next summer school. As a result of the talks, it was decided to develop cooperation between the TSPU and the Shenyang Polytechnic University in various forms and areas.

Mudanjiang Normal University

In 2018 active cooperation continues between Tomsk State Pedagogical University and Mudanjiang Normal University (China), which is an old partner of TSPU.

For several years students of the Mudanjiang University have been coming to the TSPU for academic exchanges for bachelor and master's programs. Students signed for basic training programs and showed excellent results, so this practice will be continued in the coming years, and the number of students is going to increase.

It is also planned to organize the joint work of student television of two universities: joint videos will be prepared about universities and student life, which will then be presented to international competitions. Another point of discussion during the talks was the question of improving the qualifications of the teaching staff in the methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language.

Tomsk State Pedagogical University has become one of the hundred best universities in Russia, according to the 2018 rating of the authoritative agency RAEX ("Expert RA"). When calculating the rating, open sources, scientometric indicators, as well as the results of online surveys of 30,000 respondents (students, graduates, representatives of the scientific community and employers) were used. As a result, the agency experts assessed three factors: the conditions for quality education, the relevance of graduates and the research activity of the university.

Among all the universities of Russia, the TSPU took the 75th position and became one of the three pedagogical universities of the country, included in the top 100

Annual summer intensive robotics course is going to start at the Kids Robotics center at TSPU. During two weeks children at the age of 6 to 10 will get acquainted with the basics of robotics and try to make their own robots and control them. Less theory and more practice: according to our experience, high pace of lessons brings best results. By the end of course children will learn how to build simple robots and how to program them. Having finished just two lessons our students demonstrated high interest in robotics as well as willingness to solve complicated construction and programming tasks.

Students of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University have celebrated the long-awaited summer season with the bright festival for the citizens of Tomsk. Childrend and their parents gathered in the Teachers's Square at TSPU and took part in the holiday organized by entertainers of TSPU. Everyone could participate in creative workshops, sport competitions and games as well as show some dance moves, take a picture with fairy characters, have a sweet treat or have their faces painted by TSPU artists. We have greeted summer in a friendly atmosphere with smiles and laughter!
