The delegation of the Trade Union Organization of the TSPU students arrived in Irkutsk to participate in the third all-Russian educational project "Proleader". The meeting of leaders and activists of student government structures was held within the walls of the Irkutsk State University (ISU).

For three days, participants from the Tomsk State Pedagogical University, together with colleagues from other universities in Russia, studied the educational program, shared their experience and improved their competences at workshops held by leading specialists of the Student Coordination Council of the Russian Federation. As part of the excursion and entertainment programs, the participants had the opportunity to attend a festive concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the ISU, and to get acquainted with the beauties of Lake Baikal.

Volunteers of the «Point of View» student squad of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University have opened a new season of the social project «Children of the one Sun» - a cultural and educational program for children with disabilities, which has been implemented on the basis of the university since 2015. Activists of the TSPU arranged workshop-meeting with young participants and their parents in the Youth Center of the university.

The guys went through a series of workshops from our students and learned how to make an anti-stress ball, solved puzzles, drew using their hands instead of brushes, made various figures from clay and created greeting cards. The parents didn’t stay aside: while the children were busy with the worhshops, the adults were able to rest and participated in art therapy. The educational program also included vivid scientific experiments that each guest could repeat at home: simple and safe “tricks” with easy to get materials (sunflower oil, water, and others). In the time free from the master classes, the participants were able to dance in the company of TSPU volunteers and just chat with old and new friends. The meeting ended with traditional tea drinking, exchange of impressions and discussion of future plans.

The Tomsk State Pedagogical University has once again been recognized by the international rating agency QS as the best pedagogical university of Russia.

The ratings of the Quacquarelli Symonds agency along with the “Academic Ranking of World Universities” and “The Times Higher Education World University Rankings” are among the most influential in the world. The state support program for leading Russian universities - Project 5-100 - is based on the results provided by these agencies.

Of the 9,000 universities located in China, India, Brazil, Russia and South Africa, the top 400 universities were ranked. Tomsk State Pedagogical University took the 47th position among all the universities of Russia included in the rating, being located between the National Research Perm Polytechnic and Belgorod Universities.

Math professor Yongjin Song (Republic of Korea) delivered a lecture on mathematics education at the Tomsk State Pedagogical University. The lecture that was visited by more than 80 people – university and school teachers, students and pupils – was devoted to the features of mathematics education in Korea, in particular in middle and high school, and to higher education. Yongjin Song in detail explained the peculiarities of the general education in Korea, the way how schoolchildren prepare for competitions and opportunities for entering the higher education institutions. In the end professor have answered the questions from audience.

This event was made possible thanks to the cooperation of specialists from the Center for Advanced Physical, Mathematical and Natural Science Education of the TSPU and the Scientific and Educational Mathematical Center of the Tomsk State University. Professor Song is a leading expert in the field of mathematics education in South Korea and the leader of the Korean team of the International Mathematical Olympiad for over twenty years.

A series of workshops “Entertaining Robotics for Children” from the specialists of the Children's Center for Educational Robotics (CCER) of the TSPU took place at the U-NOVUS solutions forum. Three interactive sites "Spirograf", "Remore football" and "Smart Home. Moisture detector” gathered more than 150 participants - children and their parents.

As part of the master classes at the platforms CCER TSPU, the guests modeled, designed and programmed robots, gained knowledge about the world of radio electronics, developed fine motor skills, played robofootball and assembled moisture detectors that they could take with them. In turn, students whose activities are closely connected with technical creativity and whose educational programs include scientific and technical creativity, were able to immerse themselves in the professional world of teaching.

In addition to educational activities, there was a free zone where, together with the teachers of the Center, the guys made figures from the LEGO.

The award ceremony took place on the 4th of October 2018 within the framework of the International Forum of the Eurasian Association of Pedagogical Universities at the ceremony honoring the first higher educational institution of Kazakhstan - the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abay in connection with the 90th anniversary of the university.

The TSPU and the KazNPU have been successfully cooperating for a long time.

Rector of KazNPU Takir Ospanovich Balykbaev, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, professor graduated from the Kazakh State University named after S. M. Kirov and finished postgraduate course of Moscow State University. He is the author of more than 140 scientific articles, 5 monographs, textbooks and manuals, his work and achievements are marked by many awards, including the Diploma of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (1993); Diploma of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2006); Anniversary medals of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Honorary title of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2007) and others.

TSPU students that just have started their way on the teacher’s program have celebrated the Teacher’s day with sport events. The teams of first-year students have gathered in the university’s stadium to participate in sport challenges: pair running in a hoop, basketball game, running in “giant” boots, cross-rope. The final obstacle on the way to victory in the main stage was a test in a “caterpillar belt” – guys got into a giant tape and tried outrun each other in a race.

Inspiring chants were heard throughout the entire stadium, colorful posters with encouraging slogans flashed at each stage, and pompoms of cheerleaders did not stop for a second in their crazy dance. The students of the Faculty of physical culture and sports proved their skills: the guys completed the challenge in a record time - 2 minutes. 09 sec. The second place was won by the students of the Faculty of preschool and elementary education, the third ones were the team of the Faculty of economics and management. The awards found their athletes, and the participants got teamwork experience and vast of positive emotions for the next educational week!

The ninth "Space lessontime was held at the Nakhimov Naval School in St. Petersburg. The topic of the lesson was "Space Navigation on the Earth and Space" brought together students from the branches of the Nakhimov Naval School in Vladivostok, Sevastopol and Murmansk.

Russian astronauts Oleg Artemyev and Sergey Prokopyev together with the participants and experts of the project discussed how to orient oneself in the open ocean and in outer space and to find each other in space and on earth. Schoolchildren presented their projects to the audience of the lesson.

According to the agreement on the exchange between the students and teachers of the Tomsk state pedagogical university and educational institution of Wroclaw (Poland) our university had received Mikhail Slivinski, a teacher of Math and computer science of Wroclaw university and Katajina Kozelsky, teacher of Math and computer science of one of the polish schools.

Polish teachers came to Tomsk to share their knowledge and get acquainted with innovations in the methodology of teaching mathematics and computer science at our university. The TSPU has long been working on a methodology for teaching these disciplines. For example, TSPU professor E.G. Gelfman with his team created a series of school textbooks on mathematics, which were awarded with prices of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

Guests of TSPU have already attended lectures and practical classes of students of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University, and they also attended classes and seminars in the Humanities and Siberian lyceums of Tomsk. A fruitful discussion of the teaching methodology was held at the seminar of the Chair of Mathematics, Theory and Methods of Teaching Mathematics of TSPU.
