"UNIVERSITY SHESSIONS" at the TSPU: A GREAT JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIG UNIVERSITY OF TOMSK

It is known in Russia and far beyond that Tomsk is a city of students: there are six universities on its territory, which, together with research institutes, are united in the Big Tomsk University. The schoolchildren from the Lugansk People's Republic visited these universities on the new day of the "University shessions" at the Tomsk State Pedagogical University.

Each university told about its most interesting structures, educational opportunities and realization of student potential regardless of the profile of the university or the chosen direction of training.

Thus, at the Tomsk State University (TSU), students had a tour inside the I.K. Bazhenov Mineralogical Museum of the Tomsk State University (TSU) and saw the natural history exhibition with a collection of minerals; visited the TSU History Museum; looked at the collection of the first land plants - psilophytes and the exhibition of reconstructed skeletons of the main representatives of the Pleistocene fauna in the Paleontological Museum named after V.A. Khakhlov.

At the Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU), guys also visited the museums, learned how the Youth Policy Center works, and became guests of the exhibition center "Science and Education at the TPU: Traditions and Innovations", which displays "Integrated Arctic Shelf Research", "Space", "Big Data", "Special People", "Industrial Tomography and Nondestructive Testing" and other exhibitions.

In the Siberian State Medical University (SibSMU) kids watched a video about key activities of the university and student life, and listened to an open lecture on the healthy lifestyle, from which they learned about the importance of taking care of yourself from a young age.

At the Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR) the kids visited the Electronic Engineering Department, where they saw microcircuits designed with the participation of students and got acquainted with the equipment for their production. At the Radio Engineering Department they got acquainted with a printed circuit board printer, which demonstrates the possibilities of design and rapid prototyping of electronic devices. Employees of the university presented the technology of printing with conductive silver ink. At the Faculty of Information Technology, the participants of the shift were able to interact with the robotic arm using the programs "High Five" and "Greetings".

At the Tomsk State University of Architecture and Construction the guests from the LNR were welcomed by the rector Viktor Alekseevich Vlasov.

"I was born in Donbass, in Gorlovka, do you know such a place? - The head of the university addressed the children. - When you graduate, come to Tomsk, we have good universities, good professions. And it's safe here".

In the Tomsk State University of Architecture and Construction the students also met with representatives of the admission committee, learned about current educational programs that they can apply for after graduation in their home country.

Concluding the dialogue, the guys took a creative workshop and created a charm doll to remember the emotions of a warm evening and return to them when they look at it.

The seventh day of the shift will be the day of the TSPU: children will get acquainted with the university, classes in the Technopark of universal pedagogical competencies and intellectual quiz.

ONLINE TOUR TO THE TECHNOPARK OF THE TSPU FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Within the frame of "Young Scientist" course, the students from Kazakhstan and Belarus attended the on-line tour to the interdisciplinary research laboratory of the TSPU Technopark of universal pedagogical competences. The educational meeting on the complex topic "NBICS-convergence in science and education, environmental technologies and scientific literacy" was held by the Director of the Center of additional physical, mathematical and natural science education Mikhail Alexandrovich Chervonniy.

"Only 33 universities in Russia have such Technoparks. At the Tomsk State Pedagogical University the Technopark serves provies a new level of science interaction, increases the number of student integrated projects and gives the future teachers an opportunity to undergo an effective practical and interdisciplinary training", — said M.A. Chervonniy.

Together with the speaker, the audience looked at convergent technologies - the big five - nanotechnology, biotechnology, information and communication technology, cognitive and socio-humanitarian technology - formed from a new synthesis and interpenetration of the sciences. Mikhail noted that NBICS convergence is necessary to create, using nanomaterials, new powerful computers capable of more complex modeling leading to new bio- and nanotechnologies.

The use of convergence in pedagogical universities helps students learn how modern design and research technologies are arranged, what the difference between project and research is; learn to conduct research and scientific works independently to implement the obtained unique material into teaching certain courses of the school program.

After the theoretical part, the guests of the excursion were shown the installations that are located in the laboratory of interdisciplinary research. For example, the hardware and software complex - an interactive anatomical table "Pirogov" is used by Tomsk Pedagogical University students to develop scientific literacy. The audience was shown a detailed demonstration of the table and shown the possibilities of working with it.

The next exhibit on the tour was an installation designed to study the resolving power of an eye. An internal LED, placed in a black tube, flashes according to a set frequency. As the flicker frequency increased, the subject recorded the frequency at which the light signals merged. It was emphasized to the participants that past and modern televisions had a higher frame rate selected in this way, resulting in the television picture merging into a single dynamic image. This unit also makes it possible to record a person's lateral vision capabilities. The apparatus was shown in action on the TSPU students, who were able to identify the frequency of the flashes merging into a single signal on their own.

"I am an acting teacher, I work in Lyceum No. 51, — said Igor Nikolayevich Yakovlev, a 2nd year master's student at the TSPU Faculty of Physics and Mathematics. — All technologies presented today I use in teaching children interdisciplinary relations in my classes. Thanks to these technologies, children show interest in learning the subject, as they can work with experimental physics on their own and gain knowledge through their own experience".

An installation was also shown showing the Chladni Figures, focused on the study of frequencies of resonating sound signals. The spectral analysis rigs were the last to be shown. Students saw the radiation spectrum of the hydrogen atom, the most abundant element in the universe. Participants learned that spectral analysis is used in forensics.

In addition to practical skills, working with the equipment of the TSPU's Technopark allows to increase the level of universal competencies: the ability to set goals and plan their achievement, communication skills, analytical skills, leadership qualities, and the ability to create and implement project activities.

Summing up, the speaker told the audience that thanks to the development of the technologies presented, at one time mankind managed to build the first graphite reactor and the first synchrotron. Nature-based technologies provide new materials and develop new areas of research in the automotive industry, biology, medicine, earth sciences, etc.

ACTING GOVERNOR OF TOMSK REGION WITH THE HELP OF STUDENTS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE TSPU SENT 13 TONS OF HUMANITARIAN AID TO DONBASS

This is the ninth time humanitarian aid has been sent from the region to the inhabitants of the DNR, LNR and other liberated territories of Ukraine. The collection of humanitarian aid is carried out in all municipalities, among various organizations, including the Tomsk State Pedagogical University. The new shipment of humanitarian aid was organized by Acting Governor of the Tomsk region Vladimir Vladimirovich Mazur. The students of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University also joined the initiative. They were led by Vice-Rector for Educational and Youth Policy Dmitry Borisovich Nasonov who told about the educational mission with refugees and the creation of the documentary film "Unlost Childhood" by representatives of the university.

Kits of humanitarian aid included food (vegetable oil, canned meat and fish, cereals, pasta, tea, cookies, condensed milk), hygiene products, household chemicals, towels, bedding. Mazur thanked the townspeople for their caring and responsiveness:

"Residents of the Tomsk region were among the first to respond to the call for help. Every day they bring the necessities to the collection centers for those who have suffered from this tragedy. Today we are sending already the ninth batch of humanitarian cargo. And, of course, we continue to collect, and will continue to help those in need.

The collection points accept items and food necessary to cover basic needs. However, Tomsk State Pedagogical University more often receives stationery and books that are needed to organize educational activities for children. Future teachers, who initiated the meeting with refugees from the places of special operations, are also actively involved in the support process.

"In addition to humanitarian aid, which is collected by universities-paricipants of the Great Tomsk University, the Pedagogical team decided to provide residents of the DNR and LNR with psychological support as well, — said D.B. Nasonov at the meeting. — To implement the mission, together with the students of the TSPU, we went to the temporary refugee settlements in Lipetsk and Voronezh... In the process of work and communication with the evacuees we created a film "Unlost Childhood", the viewing of which can dispel all doubts about the need for a special operation".

The documentary "Unlost Childhood" is available at the university's public resources. Humanitarian aid collection points are still open for anyone who wants to help the residents of Donbass. At the TSPU, you can leave kits at the Primary trade union organization of students (Komsomolsky prospect 75).

TSPU STUDENT WON A MEDAL AT INTERNATIONAL KARATE COMPETITIONS

The Belarusian Karate Federation held an international competition "Friendship Cup", dedicated to the celebration of Victory Day. Among more than 300 wrestlers from Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, Anna Skvortsova, a fifth-year student of the Institute of Childhood and Art Pedagogy of the TSPU, competed and won a medal.

When Anna was 17 a new hobby appeared in her life — karate, which soon grew into a vocation. Since then Anna is engaged in a martial arts school with the head coach of the Tomsk region in karate Ruslan Muradalievich Apaev. Student's sporting path did not accidentally cross with the pedagogical one: today Anna works with children and teaches her students karate skills.

Participation in international competitions in Minsk was not planned: Anna was preparing to fly to Cairo to the prestigious sporting world competition - the Premier League in karate. Due to the difficult situation in the world, access to the event for Russian athletes had to be closed. In this regard, the Belarusian Karate Federation decided to hold an international competition "Friendship Cup" between Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus in their territory.

The tournament lasted for two days. For Anna it was the first participation in the international competitions and the first trip outside the Russian Federation:

"The tournament was organized on a high level, one could feel that it was a serious event, — she says. — Judges and coaches of international categories were present, it was very exciting to perform in front of them".

In the first fight the girl met with a representative of the National team of Belarus, and in the second, final competition, — with the first number of the Russian team. At the end of the competition Anna won the silver medal in the weight category of 50 kg (kumite section):

"Although I lost in the finals to the first number one of Russia, I was satisfied with my performance. I was lucky to meet such strong competitors, in which I had to give my best and show everything I learned over the years. I'm sure this experience will have a positive impact on my future career in sports".

s13 2 2Anna has been coaching the younger generation on her own for more than three years, which allows her to grow not only as an athlete, but also to gain pedagogical experience and develop skills in communication with children. Today the athlete is the master of sports and the trainer of Karate-club "Siberia" and she definitely is not going to stop at what has been achieved both in sports and in pedagogical activities.

CREATIVE CONTEST "LIVE AND REMEMBER" DEDICATED TO THE VICTORY IN THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR

The closing ceremony of the creative competition "I live and remember" dedicated to the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War was held in the Institute of Childhood and Art Pedagogy. All students took part in it. They reflected in their works the importance of continuity of generations and the preservation of historical memory.

The project included several creative competitions and events: the exhibition of art works, performances of musical compositions and choreographic etudes. At the end of competitions were selected strongest works, which participants presented to the guests during the holiday.

The event began with an exhibition of art works of students of 1-4 courses of the Faculty of Culture and Arts. The authors told about the history of creation of each picture and spoke about how the war affected their families, what trace it left on the destinies of their relatives. For example, a first-year student Yana Tatarnikova who created the picture "My Maria Nikitichna" depicted her great-grandmother who worked at the timber-mill on a level with grown-up men in spite of being a child during the war. The artist wanted her work to emphasize the strength of a woman and convey memories of her great-grandmother, who contributed to the Great Victory.

After the guests became acquainted with the displayed artwork and immersed themselves in the creative atmosphere, a note of lyricism was added to the meeting by Elena Borisenko, a graduate student of the Faculty of Culture and Arts, who sang a solo song "Seagull". She was followed by a fervent song of the war years "Vasya Vasilek", a first-year student from China, Wen Chun Chen, who took the initiative to learn the words at his own will.

Vyacheslav Nikolayevich Tsarev, professor at the Department of Music and Art Education, congratulated the attendees on the upcoming holiday:

"I still caught the moment when on the morning of May 9 you could see a lot of veterans at the Victory Parade. Unfortunately, every year there are fewer and fewer of them. And all we can do is keep the memory of them in our pictures, songs, dances and stories. Victory Day is one of the most important holidays for Russia, a holiday with tears in its eyes. And I congratulate you with all my heart".

According to the jury's opinion, afterwards the students performed their best dance routines. Thus, a staging was presented by third-year students Olga Bokar and Nikita Petukhov, who showed in their dance their view of the war and life of those years.

During the celebration the project participants received awards - commemorative diplomas and gifts. The ceremonial awarding was held by Nikolay Andreevich Dolgikh, member of the Union of Artists and Designers of the Russian Federation, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Music and Art Education:

"It is gratifying that our students responded to participate in this project and decided to honor the memory of their great-grandparents, who with their own strength and lives forged the victory. They worked to ensure that today over our heads was a peaceful and clear sky. It is pleasant to realize that first-year students who are just starting their way in the world of art were not afraid to show their skills and now their works decorate the honorable exhibition on a par with the works of senior students".

At the end of the solemn event, the students, along with faculty and guests, gathered in a general circle and sang songs beloved by the frontline soldiers, songs that once gave hope and faith in a brighter future to the soldiers who went to defend their homeland.

The competition "Dance for the Faculty" was held in a mixed format: more than 300 spectators watched the performances from the hall, while the rest could connect to the online broadcast organized by the TV TSPU.

The contestants had to stage a dance number of three to five minutes on a free theme.

"It's nice to see how the event is transformed from an ordinary amateur activity into something more: the participants approach it as seriously as possible, the level of staging and involvement in the creative process increases", — says Roman Romanov, director of the TSPU Student Club.

While preparing for the competition, students tried to work on ideas, investing in them the maximum creativity, diversifying dance styles, improving costumes and overall design.

"Our production involved a new cast of dancers, existing only a month, — says Daria Kudinova, a student of the Faculty of Culture and Arts. — We haven't seen such an enthusiastic audience yet! The feedback from the jury was useful: we were recommended to make some changes in the costumes and include their transformation in the number. In general, we received good feedback on technique, idea, and expression of emotion."

According to the results the teams of the Faculty of Culture and Arts, Faculty of Pre-School and Primary Education, Faculty of Psychology and Special Education, Institute of Foreign Languages and International Cooperation were allowed to the final stage of the competition. Also, thanks to a vote of the audience, which was organized in the group of the Student Club in VK, dance competition will continue students of History and Philology Department.

YOUNG AND EXPERIENCED RESEARCHERS DISCUSSED DIGITALIZATION OF EDUCATION

The Institute for the Development of Pedagogical Education of the TSPU held a seminar-research "The impact of digitalization in education on the professional development of teacher-researchers. The participants, young experienced researchers, dealt with the issue of the significance of digitalization in education and pedagogical science.

The seminar-research brought together more than 50 representatives of different levels of education: undergraduates, graduate students, young and experienced scientists, teacher-researchers of the education system (preschool and general education institutions, institutions of higher and additional education). The event was the final in the series of seminars of the Second Scientific School.

During the work, the participants presented reports, which enabled a deep reflection on topical issues of digital economy and systemic digital transformation in education. Face-to-face and remote work with the cases of the autonomous non-profit organization "Digital Economy" helped to form an idea of the importance of teachers' digital competencies in modern society, as well as to extend the functionality of the "end-to-end" digital technologies used today in education and science. The final works of the teams "Scoring applicants for university admission", "Smart mirror for speech therapist ArtikMe", and "Digital platform for diagnosing and improving digital literacy of employees" were presented to colleagues and members of the expert and analytical group of the event.

"This is a relevant reflection of what is now happening in education. It was important to look at the proposed cases through scientific problems. To understand what this development is for, what role teachers play in it: it is important for a graduate student what scientific problem he solves," commented Mikhail Alexandrovich Chervonniy, director of the Center of additional physical, mathematical and natural-science education of the TSPU.

Along with the emerging risks in the use of digital resources (difficult assessment of the quality of content, lack of a uniform interface, additional time consumption for mastering the necessary tools, etc.), participants highlighted such opportunities as the clear structuring of large volumes of data, the use of modern algorithms for data analysis, allowing to form the most effective solutions for different levels of problems, flexible transition to personalized education and others.

"This kind of seminar should become traditional: we need to raise the "standards" with the most unexpected combinations of topics that may arise, - says Natalia Vasilyevna Bryukhantseva, chairman of the Tomsk regional branch of the public organization "Pedagogical Society of Russia". - With digitalization the speed and volume of incoming information is increasing. In 10 years there will be another generation, we cannot ignore it. This scientific school allowed us all to form our own position on the current topic and unlock our potential."

According to experts, the seminar-research became the starting point for the creation of the first postgraduate school of TSPU, which will present the results of pedagogical research in the field of digitalization in education at the next International scientific and educational forum "Pedagogy of the XXI century: challenges and solutions" TSPU, which will be traditionally held in April next year.
