THEORETICAL PHYSICISTS FROM TSPU WON THE PRESTIGIOUS JOINT INSTITUTE FOR NUCLEAR RESEARCH AWARD

In February, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) announced the results of its prestigious annual award. The first prize for the cycle of scientific research titled «New Methods in Classical and Quantum Field Theory with Extended Supersymmetry» was awarded to a group of scientists, including Professor I. L. Buchbinder, the director of TSPU's Center for Theoretical Physics, and a researcher from the same center, B. S. Merzlikin. The research team also comprised scientists from the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and Moscow State University.

The scientific group has been working on the topic for almost six years. The key achievement of the research is the formulation of new methods for constructing effective actions with preservation of explicit and hidden symmetries at all stages and their subsequent application to various field theory models in the classical and quantum domains. The results obtained were published in 22 papers, mainly in Physics Letters B, Nuclear Physics B, and Journal of High Energy Physics, and were presented in 15 plenary papers at international conferences.

JINR is a large intergovernmental organization that operates under the governance of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries and the International Scientific and Technical Council. It is comprised of several separate institutes, or laboratories, with a primary focus on research related to nuclear physics, elementary particle physics, and condensed matter physics. One of JINR's largest theoretical physics laboratories, with over 300 staff members, has collaborated with I.L. Buchbinder for many years. JINR also awards several prizes annually in the field of fundamental and applied physics.

However, this is preceded by a rather long and rigorous procedure of multistage expertise. Firstly, the scientific group applying for the prize must apply to the directorate of the corresponding laboratory and submit an extended abstract of its work. Afterwards, a scientific seminar of the relevant department is held, where the group leaders make an hour and a half report, which must be approved by the seminar. This is followed by a thorough discussion of the work at the Scientific-Technical Council of the Laboratory, where the work is nominated for the JINR Prize. Only after going through this stringent procedure will the JINR award be granted to deserving individuals or groups. The award serves as a testament to their exceptional contributions and unwavering dedication to the field of nuclear research.

The JINR prize approval process involves creating a special jury and sending the work's abstract to three independent experts. Scientists from various external Russian and foreign organizations provide positive expert opinions. The jury votes on recommendations for first, second, and incentive prizes, and submits them to the International Scientific and Technical Council for the final decision. In the case of the scientific group including TSPU scientists, positive expert opinions were provided by Dr. Ivanov from the Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Dr. Petrov from the P. N. Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Dr. Johnson from the University of Maryland (USA). A team of scientists from TSPU successfully passed all stages and received the first prize in theoretical physics for 2022.

The official award ceremony will take place in June of this year.

Information about the award is posted on the website of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.

LEARNING THE KET LANGUAGE TOGETHER WITH TSPU

During Native Language Week, a lesson on the Ket language was held at TSHPU. A TSHPU employee and representatives of the Kets shared the history of the people and the places where they live. They also explained the rules of pronunciation and spelling of words in the Ket language and discussed one of the translations of the folk tale "Cuckoo"

Back in the 20th century, Professor Andrey Petrovich Dulzon of TSPU initiated the documentation of unwritten languages of the peoples of Siberia. Since the 1990s, scientists from the Institute of Foreign Language and Intercultural Communication (FLIIC) at TSPU (now TSHPU) have actively cooperated with language communities of small ethnic groups to create educational and methodological literature to help preserve the languages and cultures of small peoples of the North. They have also implemented special events, such as the lessons of the Ket (Telet) language.

Крюкова круг«The first attempt to hold lessons in the Ket language was in 2022 during Native Language Week at TSHPU, and the initiative came from the Department of Languages of the Peoples of Siberia. Even earlier, we started organizing educational meetings to study the Selkup language», — says Elena Kryukova, Head of the Department of Languages of the Peoples of Siberia at the Institute of Intercultural Studies.

The participants of the last class were students who wanted to learn or strengthen their existing knowledge of the Ket language. During the dialogue with the teachers, they learned who the Kets are and where they live. Special attention was devoted to working with Ket texts. They studied spelling, discussed pronunciation of some words, and also analyzed one of the variants of the translation of the Ket fairy tale "Cuckoo".

«More than 30 students who participated in the class gained a unique linguistic experience, learned the theoretical foundations that the Institute's scholars include in the educational program, and also gained practical knowledge on how a language unlike European languages is structured», — says Elena Alexandrovna.

Valentina Andreyevna Romanenkova, Zoya Vasilyevna, and Elizaveta Petrovna Maksunovs were also present at the lesson. The guest and student was Haivalam Vakuvagir, the author of the "Haivalam" brand, which aims to popularize ethnic motifs. As a mestizo (her father is Evenk, her mother is Ket), Haivalam is actively involved in the indigenous youth movement, contributing to the preservation of indigenous languages.

According to E.A. Kryukova, the Ket language is considered a vulnerable language, and according to the classification of scientists from the Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, it belongs to the category of endangered languages, i.e. the natural transmission of the language between generations has been interrupted. Therefore, the description, preservation, and revitalization of the languages of small ethnic groups, i.e. the preservation of cultural and linguistic diversity in the world, is an urgent problem of global scale to which university specialists contribute. Among other things, to this end, the staff of JILS maintains a channel where they post recordings of events that allow those who wish to join the study of the languages of small peoples from remote areas of the country at any time.

+1 TO MASTERS OF SPORTS OF RUSSIA AT THE TSPU

Maria Kosterova, a third-year student at the Institute of Physical Culture and Sports of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University, has been awarded the title "Master of Sports of Russia" in sports acrobatics. The award was issued by the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation.

Maria's passion for acrobatics started when she was seven years old and joined the Youth Sports School No. 3. She initially tried various sports, including swimming and rhythmic gymnastics, but acrobatics won her heart.

Maria says, "I am a team player and I love performing acrobatics in pairs or threes. You feel a sense of unity and support."

However, like many athletes, Maria faced setbacks and moments where she considered quitting, but support from family, coaches, and colleagues helped her overcome challenges. Her desire to share her experiences and inspire the next generation of champions motivated her to continue. She is now studying at the Tomsk State Pedagogical University to become an experienced coach and educator in the sport.

Maria and her team have achieved many victories at different competitions, including second place at the Tomsk region championship in acrobatics and silver at the Russian competition "Pleshkov cup". This success led to her and her colleagues being awarded the title of "Master of Sports of Russia."

"I entered the TSPU to be able to work as an acrobatics coach, become an experienced teacher and raise new masters of sports. To do this, I need to know the methods of teaching the subject to children of different ages, which is what I'm studying now, — Maria says. — Sports have taught me discipline, and that quality helps me well in my studies".

Maria is now motivated to continue her journey, using her newfound knowledge to inspire and educate young acrobatics champions. Her next competition will be the Championship of the Tomsk region and the Championship of the Siberian Federal District in sports acrobatic

FOREIGN STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO APPLY FOR A TEMPORARY RESIDENCE PERMIT FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES

The Department of Migration Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Tomsk region recently held a meeting with representatives of Tomsk universities to announce a new change in the migration legislation. The new temporary residence permit for education (RVPO) is now available for full-time foreign students in Russia.

The RVPO, which replaces the previous temporary residence permit, offers several benefits to foreign students. Unlike the previous permit, which was issued for three years, the RVPO is issued for the entire duration of study and 180 days after graduation. Additionally, foreign graduates can now receive a residence permit and Russian citizenship within three years, compared to just honors graduates or citizens of certain countries previously.

Vladimir A. Melnikov, Director of the International Information Center at Tomsk State Pedagogical University, emphasizes the significance of the new RVPO, especially for students from visa countries.

"RVPO makes life easier for foreign students, — says Melnikov. — They don't have to renew their visa every year, and they have the right to receive full medical care."

The International Information Center of Tomsk State Pedagogical University is available to provide information and support for foreign students looking to apply for the RVPO. However, students should be aware that the document may be canceled in the case of expulsion or academic leave, and a certificate of no criminal record is required for students from visa countries. The new RVPO is a step towards making Russia a more accessible and welcoming destination for foreign students, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Tomsk region is leading the way in facilitating their stay in the country.
