10-th Anniversary Regional scientific-practical conference of schoolchildren "I am studying nature", organized by the Centre for additional physical and mathematical and science education of Tomsk State Pedagogical University, was held within the walls of the university 12 February 2017.

The conference was attended by around 200 students from 1st to 11th grade from 32 educational institutions of Tomsk, Tomsk region and Kemerovo. This year, there was a  record-breaking number of sections - 14, the leaders of which were teachers of Tomsk State Pedagogical University, teachers of city schools, as well as assistants - students and undergraduates of TSPU, TPU, TUSUR, Siberian State Medical University. Schoolchildren made reports on different topics. It should be mentioned that the number kids interested in science is constantly rising as well as quality of their reports

As part of the intellectual activities there was also held an exhibition-festival "Science for Children", where educational institutions have shown interesting exhibits and experiments for children. Exhibition-Festival always takes place very lively and does not allow young scientists, as well as their parents to get bored while waiting for the start of the conference.

This year the following TSPU structures were involved in exhibition: Children's center for educational robotics, Museum of Information Technology, Department of Mathematics Education, Department of General Physics, headed by one of the organizers of the conference, A. R. Arzhanik. Students under the guidance of experienced teachers have demonstrated experiments, training computer programs and games. 

The project by Tomsk State Pedagogical University “Sibege” was mentioned in the analytical report made by Higher School of Economics, dedicated to online-services for school students in Russia.

The program developed by specialists of TSPU allows pupils to get a free online-preparation for Unified State Examination in Math, Physics and English. The lessons are conducted by students from various faculties of the University as well as by teachers of Center for additional physico-mathematical and natural education of TSPU.

“Free services (as online-courses Sibege) attract children from low-income families that can not afford private tutors. Representatives of such category among the users of free services can estimates up to 40% ” – says the website of Higher School of Economics.

To the advantages of TSPU "Sibege" project one can add a brand new approach to the training of teachers: students (future teachers) try to conduct their first lessons, have an opportunity to look at themselves from the side using video recording and evaluate their work. Along with students the lessons are also conducted by high-level teachers.

TSPU specialists involved in “Sibege” have specific targets for the next year: one of them is to increase number of online-lessons with participation of students and best teachers of the University.

On the eve of Russian science day, on 7 February the governor of Tomsk region Sergey Zhvachkin has congratulated newly elected academicians, corresponding members of Russian Academy of Sciences and awarded a number of scientists.

Larisa Germanovna Smyshliaeva, doctor of pedagogical sciences, associate professor, director of  Psychology and pedagogy institute of TSPY had received decoration for “The service in educational sphere”.

“Once again I sincerely congratulate newly elected academicians and  corresponding members of Russian Academy of  Sciences as well as entire scientific community of Tomsk with the well-deserved recognition of our scientist! Today we have 46 academicians in Tomsk”, – said Sergey Zhvachkin.

On the last week the results of the fifth competition of academic and scientific literature, published in 2015/2016 – “Golden coryphaeus”, were summed up by the committee from Russian and Kazakh universities.

Associate professor of contemporary Russian language and stylistics, candidate of Philological Sciences Aleksey Vladimirovich Boltonov became prize winner in the category “Philological sciences” for his study “Text activity as reflection of communicative and cognate styles of informational and media linguistic personality”.

On February the 1st Tomsk students and pupils went on the air with International space station during the first «Space lesson» which was held in Tomsk Palace of youth art.

Among the participants of the first lesson were the main organizers of the project – governour of Tomsk region Sergey Zhvachkin, vice minister of science and education of Russian Federation Lyudmila Ogorodova, official representative of «Roscosmos» Evgeniy Stepanov, director of Institute of physics of strength and material science Sergey Psahe and vice-general director of All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company Rifat Sabitov, rector of TSPU Valery Obukhov, rector of National research Tomsk polytechnic university Petr Chubik. 

Rector of Tosmk State Pedagogical University Valery Obukhov held a speech in front of the project’s participants “Dear friends! School teacher from Kaluga, the founder of astronautics Tsiolkovsky wrote: "Earth is the cradle of humanity, but you cannot stay in the cradle forever." Our house is a huge universe. Of course, it is physically impossible to reach its farthest corners, but there are no boundaries for the human mind. World famous scientists - cosmologists of Tomsk State Pedagogical University - together with their students are studying the past, present and future of the universe. Your successful future - also the subject of special concern for pedagogical universities, that is why the Pedagogical University became one of the initiators of this project. We will reveal to you the history of scientific and technological progress of mankind, leading it to the stars, show the role and importance of national science and technology in this process. And maybe it is you who will have to unravel the deepest mysteries of the universe! Good luck on this Star Trek.”

TSPU teachers and students had prepared to this event in advance: they conducted a series of physics lessons in Physics in schools of Tomsk and Tomsk regions. During the 30 minutes online broadcast around 50 school students have asked their questions to the about living in the space station, astronauts’ favorite literature and school lessons, about possibility of Internet-access on board of ISS, scientific experiments and other topics. TPU scientists together with Institute of physics of strength and material science have developed a 3-D printer specially build for operations in space. Printer  was tested in the auditorium of “Space lesson” during the broadcast and it is expected to be taken on board of ISS next year.

Students of the faculty of economics and management of TSPU (advertisement and public relations direction) have participated in the opening ceremony of the Year of ecology in Tomsk region, which took place on 27 January  2017. The event was hosted by vice- governor for agro-industrial policy and nature management Andrey Knorr.

Diploma of the European scientific and industrial chamber (Diploma di Merito) and a medal for exceptional professional achievements were given to Oleg Polishchuk Hemovichu, the professor of TSPU, Doctor of Chemistry, professor of department for Chemistry and methods of Chemistry teaching of Chemistry and Chemical Biology Faculty of TSPU. Diploma and Medal of the European scientific and industrial chamber are given to honored workers of science, education and culture. These awards, as claimed by the founders, gives a number of privileges, including the requirement to provide help and support by officials, and can be used both for domestic use and in traveling abroad.

The "Space Lesson" project starts in Tomsk with participation of specialists of Tomsk State Pedagogical University.

On 1^st of February school students will have an opportunity to communicate with the astronauts of the ISS. The transmission will provided by "Tomsk" TV together with specialists from the Mission Control Center.

Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​of Tomsk State Pedagogical University organizes courses in:

Students of the TSPU Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Maxim Tolkachev and Sergei Lytnev represented Tomsk region at national competitions in ski racing among the students. The event took place between 15 and 23 January 2017 in Zainsk, Republic of Tatarstan.

During the first day of competition Maxim Tolkachev, a student of Tomsk State Pedagogical University, Master of Sports of Russia, had won the bronze medal by taking over his rivals in the classic style 10 km race.

On the second day of the event TSPU Lytnev Sergei, who is also a master of sports of Russia, had shown spectacular results. Sergei took the third place and won the bronze medal in the free style 10 km race.

Besides the event’s program included men's and women's race at the 5 and 10 kilometers in classic and freestyle as well as sprint and relay race. According to the organizers, the competition is held to select participants of the XXVIII World Winter Universiade, which will be held in Almaty (Kazakhstan) from 29 January to 8 February.
