On February 20 a scientific and practical seminar "Experience in the implementation of educational programs of higher education in various areas of training, providing for the pedagogical type of professional activities of graduates." was held at TSPU. Among the participants of the seminar where the vice-president of the Russian Academy of Education, the chairman of the Coordinating Council in the field education Vladimir Valentinovich Laptev (St. Petersburg), the Deputy Governor of the Tomsk region for the scientific and educational complex Lyudmila Ogorodova, heads of classical and pedagogical universities of Moscow, Tomsk, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Irkutsk, Barnaul, Biysk, branches of the Siberian Federal University and Tyumen State University and other universities.

Web of Science Awards 2017 were held in Moscow. This award is meant for  scientists and scientific organizations for outstanding contributions to the development of science. According to the correspondent of Indicator.ru sixteen Russian scientists were awarded.

Among the winners was the theoretical physicist Sergei Odintsov, a professor at the Tomsk State Pedagogical University.

According to Forbes magazine, Sergei Dmitrievich was included in list of top ten most famous contemporary Russian scientists. According to the American scientific information database SPIRES, Professor Odintsov is one of the most quoted Russian physicists: the number of references to his work exceeds 34 thousand, the Hirsch index - 85, and he wrote more than 400 scientific papers on the theory of gravitation, mathematical physics and cosmology. Professor Sergey Odintsov is the chief researcher at the TSPU (since 1985, the department of mathematical analysis), the scientist also works at the Institute of Space Research of Catalonia (Barcelona).

The prize is awarded to active scientists and researchers who publish their works in journals with high impact factor included in the international information and analytical platform Web of Science, which unites the databases of publications in scientific journals and patents. Until 2016, the company was owned by Thomson Reuters, since October 2016 the company has been managed by Clarivate Analytics.

On 10th of February the festival of camp leaders took place in of Tomsk schools. Among the participants of the festival were the teams of schoolchildren of 6-10 grades from 10 schools of Tomsk district (Bogashevso, Zonalnaya, Kaltay, Kaftanchikovo, Kurleksk, Luchanovo, Moryakovo, Novo-Arkhangelsk, Rassvetovsk, Turuntayevsk). 

Student of TSPU were the organizers of the event. They prepared games for the children, workshops as well as organized playgrounds for presentations of school children's organizations. The most memorable event both for participants and organizers was a closing concert, where creative ideas were embodied. Schoolchildren got new impressions and a new vision of how the work of camp leaders can be organized and sure they can’t wait for the next meeting.

On February 12, 2018 "Homeland: The Northern Way" exhibition was opened at the Scientific Library of the TSPU. The organizers of the event were students and employees of the Faculty of Economics and Management of the Department of Economic Theory (Head of the Department Sizov V.V.) together with the Center for Children and Youth Tourism and the Scientific Library of TSPU.

The exhibition-installation includes exhibits from the Taimyr Peninsula, photos and video materials devoted to the history and culture of the Dolgan people, rare editions from the fund of the TSPU library, as well as a rare folk musical instruments. Undergraduate students from China studying at TSPU, and students from Japan studying in the framework of the "Spring School of the Russian Language." became the first visitors of the exhibition and the master classes. The exhibition will last until 01 March.

Today, on February 9, a multilateral agreement on the development of the Space Lesson initiative was signed.

The agreement was signed by the Governor of the Tomsk Region Sergei Zhvachkin, General Director of Rocket enterprise Energia Korolev Solntsev, rector of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University Valery Obukhov, director of the State TV and Radio Company Tomsk Alexander Derkunsky, head of the «Talent and Success» Foundation Elena Shmeleva and director of Institute of Strength Physics and Materials Science of Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences (ISPMS SB RAS)  Sergei Psakhie.

TSPU - one of the organizers of the All-Russian educational project - "Space lesson". The sixth "Space lesson" will be held on February 16 at 16:45.

The topic of the lesson is "Cinema and Space". A live broadcast will take place on GTRK "Tomsk" tvtomsk.ru site  and in "Vesti" "Vkontakte" and Facebook communities.

On 12-18 February director of the International Department of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of the State of Minas Gerais (Joués de Fora, Brazil) Augusto de Oliveira will be visiting the Tomsk state pedagogical university.

The goal of the visit from is to sign an agreement between two universities and to support joint projects, including the language training of a student groups from Brazil for further training at the TSPU and discussion of the prospects for joint activities:

• physical and mathematical branches;
• sports nutrition;
• robotics;
• online teaching project for the Russian language.

Daniel Augusto de Oliveira will also be meeting with students and teachers to discuss scientific works, social initiatives and student collaboration projects. The Brazilian guest will visit TSPU facilities as well as sights of Tomsk.

On Tuesday, Tomsk State Pedagogical University was visited by the member of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Viktor Kress, the Deputy Governor of the Tomsk Region for the scientific and educational complex Lyudmila Ogorodova and the mayor of the City of Tomsk, Ivan Klein.

The rector of the university Valery Vladimirovich Obukhov introduced Viktor Melchiorovich Kress to the changes that have occurred at the university since his last visit. Together they visited the buildings of the university, the Center for Additional Physical and Mathematical and Natural Science Education, the Youth Center of the TSPU, laboratories and museums. During meetings with students and professors Kress asked questions and also answered numerous questions from employees and students.

In the afternoon, a business meeting was held in the administration with the participation of V.M. Kress, L.M. Ogorodov and I.G. Klein. V.V. Obukhov and other officials of the university discussed tasks for the near future as well as scientific and social projects.

Siberian Federal District championship in judo was held among juniors In Achinsk, Krasnoyarsk region. The athletics arena "Record" gathered about 160 strongest athletes from different regions, territories and republics of the Siberian Federal District. Tomsk region was presented by a student of Tomsk State Pedagogical University Alexandra Askarova, a student of the Tomsk Regional Sports School of the Olympic Reserve.

In her category (70 kilograms), Alexandra showed the best results and won a gold medal. Alexandrabecame a three-time champion of the Siberian Federal District in judo. Now the athlete will defend the honor of the region at the championship of Russia among juniors and juniors up to 23 years old, which will be held in Smolensk in March. 

A third-year student of the Faculty of Culture and Arts of the TSPU, Sergei Druzhinin, together with his creative team "Rainbow" took part in the International Competition of Choreographic Art "The Way to Success", held in Kazan, and got high scores from the jury. For the contest, Sergei put three numbers, each of which was awarded with a 1st degree Laureate diploma.

Participants of the dance competition included children and youth art groups and soloists of the choreographic genre from 4 to 25 years old from Moscow, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk, Barnaul, Kazan.

Performances were evaluated by cultural and arts figures of the CIS countries: professional directors, choreographers, stars of the world stage. The dancers and their teachers had the opportunity to find out more more about the creativity of the jury members, by participating in workshops and to receive the Certificates of Completion based on the results of the work.

Outside the creative competition the teams took the excursion to the Kazan Kremlin. Sergei Druzhinin shared his impressions: «The trip impressed me and inspired with new ideas! The city turned out to be very beautiful, people - benevolent, and the contest, which was organized at the top level, has pleased me and my team»
