TSPU IS IN THE TOP 10 OF RUSSIAN UNIVERSITIES IN THE INTERNATIONAL MULTIDIMENSIONAL RATING OF UNIVERSITIES "U-MULTIRANK".

The Tomsk State Pedagogical University improved its position in the international multidimensional ranking of universities "U-Multirank", which is carried out by the European Center for Higher Education Development together with the German Research Center of Higher Education.

According to the results of this year, the TSPU took 9th place out of 46 Russian universities. Among the pedagogical universities in the country, the TSPU remains the 1st. The high indicators of the university are noted in three of the five areas of the rating:

  • educational (in terms of the number of master's students and the quality of master's programs);
  • international (joint international publications);
  • regional (participation in the regional development);
  • international (joint international publications);<
  • regional (participation in the regional development).

s30 01zU-Multirank" is not a traditional ranking, where universities are ranked in a summary table, — said Vadim Yurievich Zyubanov, head of the Department of International Cooperation of the TPSU. — This is a system of multidimensional evaluation, which provides full transparency of universities. It allows us not only to evaluate the development of the university as a whole, but also makes it possible to make a selection according to specific indicators and areas. Another difference of "U-Multirank" from the classical ratings is student surveys, which are conducted anonymously among the students and allow them to express their opinions on more than 50 positions.

In addition, the Tomsk State Pedagogical University entered the Global Top 25, becoming the best in two categories: "Regional joint publications" and "Collaboration index".

20th anniversary of "STARTUS", FESTIVAL OF SPORTS, CREATIVITY AND TOURISM

The most large-scale festival of sports, creativity, and tourism, which every year unites faculties and institutes of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University — Festival "Startus" - takes place on September 24-26. The first season of the project took place 20 years ago, since then "Startus" remains a favorite event for students.

The year 2021 is unique for "Startus" not only because of the anniversary, but also because of the changes in the structure of the teams: not only sophomores came to the festival, but also third-year students, who were deprived of the long-awaited event last year by the pandemic. In addition, the TSPU alumni, activists who helped with the festival in different years, also came to pass all the tests.

On the first day, the students decorated their rooms with the symbols of their teams and then met at the grand opening of the festival. Welcoming remarks were made by Dmitry Borisovich Nasonov, vice-rector for social and educational work, and Natalia Mikhailovna Kosovskikh, director of the Center for Educational Work and Youth Policy of the TSPU:

"Startus" is built around big and small stories: I became acquainted with this festival in 2009, when I was a student of the Faculty of Psychology, Public Relations and Advertising at the TSPU. Even back then, Startus was a huge event not only for the teams that were going to represent the faculty but also for the entire faculty. Years later, nothing has changed."

Experienced festival participants addressed the newcomers:

"Startus gives everyone who has gone to it a valuable experience and the fondest memories. The festival becomes the starting point for your entire student life: this is where everything starts in earnest. Even after so many years, we remain the true friends we once became at the festival. So carry the stamp "Was at Startus" proudly",  the former director of the TSPU TV Maxim Tynyanov.

"A teacher is the most unpredictable profession: in our work we have to be ready for anything, keeping our composure. Therefore, the skill of stress resistance and the ability to think critically in an emergency situation — are especially valuable for future teachers", — says Karina Pendiak, the organizer of "Startus".

"We realized that all our efforts in preparation for the festival were not in vain: we have an unusual concept, talking about our faculty, interesting costumes, cool business card. Since we are historians and philologists, we decided to be 'Guardians of Time', because it is our future profession — to preserve the true historical knowledge and pass it on", —  said the captain of the team of tha Faculty of Hiistory and Philology Elvira Kokorina.

TSPU BASKETBALL PLAYERS ARE THE BEST IN TOMSK REGION

At the Tomsk State Pedagogical University's Sport and Health Complex, the regional stage of the Association of student basketball (ASB) 3x3 championship was held. The TSPU's women's basketball team outplayed its opponents to become the best in Tomsk Oblast.

This tournament is the only street basketball competition among students in Russia. In this way, the ASB 3x3 basketball helps to form the street culture of students. The difference in street basketball is the number of players — teams consist of three players and one substitute. Usually, the tournament is held on street courts, responding to the specifics of the sport, but the decision was made to hold the event at the TSPU's sports complex.

The students of the Faculty of physical culture and sports of the TSPU Ermakova Alevtina, Selivanova Elizaveta, Alina Cherkashina, and Alena Nikitina competed with the female teams, some of which were especially tough: our students lost to the girls from the Siberian State Medical University, and the Tomsk State University's team took the lead by one point. However, this did not affect the final result: thanks to victories in other games the TSPU team took first place and entered the All-Russian level.

Before the match the girls had only one goal: to enjoy the game and the atmosphere of the regional competition:

"We didn't prepare specially for this competition, we were training for the performance in the main competitions. But then we heard about the ASB 3x3 and decided to play for fun", — said Elizaveta Selivanova.

Girls were calm and confident in their game, but sometimes there were emergency situations, for example, the game with the Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics team, where just one player exceeded our athletes in strength. But the future teachers coped with it easily. A good game and the right attitude helped the students to be the best in Tomsk Oblast!

Now girls are waiting for the All-Russian final in Moscow, where they will meet with teams from other regions of the country and will show a beautiful Tomsk basketball. And the winner of the ASB Super Final 3x3 will get the chance to represent Russia in the major international competitions among students.

THE ECOSYSTEM OF CREATIVITY ON THE BLACK SEA COAST: TSPU STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE "TAVRIDA.ART" FESTIVAL

In Crimea, the largest-scale festival for creative and creative youth "Tavrida.Art" was held, which brought together more than five thousand talented artists, screenwriters, dancers, singers, filmmakers, and everyone who was involved in art. Among them are our students: finalist and winner of the competitions of the Presidential platform "Russia — the country of opportunities" Artem Astrakhantsev and Alexandra Solovyova.

For several days the Black Sea coast was divided into thematic creativity spaces. The program of the Festival included hundreds of different events - workshops, quests, presentations and casting for interesting television projects.

"Here at virtually every step you can meet like-minded people and unite into creative teams, while on the other hand - communicate with people, whom you only dreamed of meeting and get into a project, which will determine your future",  — said Sergey Gennadyevich Novikov, head of the Presidential Department for Public Projects.

At the festival everyone had a unique opportunity to share experiences with their colleagues, acquire new knowledge within the educational program, as well as take part in the entertainment block, in which the "Tavrida" was visited by stars of the national stage: Klava Koka, Soso Pavliashvili, Sergey Lazarev and other singers sang their hits on the stage of the art-cluster.

Artem Astrakhantsev, head of student media "TV TPU" went to "Tavrida" as a finalist of the "TopBlOG" project and he was able to meet famous bloggers and experts - Alexei Komissarov, general director of the "Russia - Land of Opportunities" platform, Konstantin Sidorkov, manager of musical projects at VKontakte, singer Mia Boyka and others. The speakers shared their success stories and gave advice to aspiring colleagues.

"Festivals like this motivate, inspire and give energy for future achievements, implementation of ideas. Tavrida - this is the place that gathers the most talented, creative and in-demand specialists of the country", — shares Artyom.

Alexandra Solovyova, a 5th-year student of The Faculty of psychology and special education, went to "Tavrida" as the winner of the professional contest "The Teacher of the Future. Students" of the presidential platform "Russia - the country of opportunities". She attended the events of the program of the forum "RSV" - various meetings to discuss future plans for the competition, the role of a teacher, the new priorities in the competencies of a teacher. In addition, Alexandra and other participants of "Teacher of the Future" and "Teacher of the Future. Students" created an art object symbolizing the role of a teacher.

"'The Tavrida.ART Festival' and the Forum 'Russia — Land of Opportunities' were a great combination and complement each other. When I got there, I met so many new people and people I already knew that there was absolutely no time to get bored, because everyone is so original and creative", — says Alexandra.

Four days at the Black Sea coast were not only fun but also productive: meetings with famous cultural and artistic figures inspired the participants from the TSPU to conquer new heights and implement new projects within the university, allowing the future teachers to reveal their creative potential.

TSPU RECTOR IS APPOINTED AS VICE-CHAIRMAN OF THE TEACHERS' EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION

On September 6-7, Khabarovsk hosted the International Research and Practice Forum "Khabarovsk process: historical significance and contemporary challenges," which was attended by representatives of the teaching community of the whole country. The Forum also included a visiting session of the Association for the Development of Teaching Universities and Institutes (ADTUI). At the session the first steps of the renovation of the Association were taken and the new organization leadership was elected: the rector of the TSPU Andrey Makarenko was appointed as the deputy head of the Association by the decision of its members.

The evening session was attended by Sergey S. Kravtsov, the Russian minister of education, Alexei V. Lubkov, rector of the Moscow State Pedagogical University and president of the ADTUI, heads of pedagogical universities and educational institutions of the country.

In his welcoming speech, A. V. Lubkov made suggestions for rebooting the Association in connection with the need to create a unified educational space and expand the organization through the inclusion of Intermediate vocational education institutions, schools, nonprofit organizations, and representatives of the parent community. In order to expand the areas of activity through a general vote, members of the Association decided to rename it to the Association for the Development of Teacher Education (ADTE).

"The Association is developing quite dynamically, but it is clear that with all the decisions that have been made today in the field of education, we need the development of teacher education in general. Today a new and historic stage for the Association has begun, so the Ministry supports this decision", — S. S. Kravtsov addressed the audience.

Association members voted for a new composition of the organization: Sergey S. Kravtsov, the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, was appointed as the leader of the ADTE. Andrei Nikolaevich Makarenko, Rector of the Russian State Pedagogical University, was elected as one of the Vice-Governors.

More than 100 people — heads of Russian pedagogical universities, representatives of university teaching staff, teachers, and students — took part in the vote. The decision to restart and expand the Association's activities as well as the proposed nominees for the renewed membership was supported unanimously. A broad discussion of working together as part of a new understanding of the ADTE mission awaits the members of the Association.

Student of the IFLIC of the TSPU was awarded the title of "Master of Sports of Russia" in aerobics

Arina Khvorostova, a second-year student of the Institute of Foreign Languages and International Cooperation of the TSPU, was awarded the honorary title "Master of Sports of Russia".

For more than 12 years the future teacher of English and German has been engaged in sports activities. Arina started with rhythmic gymnastics, but for a professional career she preferred aerobics, as her physical abilities suit better the power sport.

Her parents chose the beautiful sport for their daughter, but due to the varied training process she still has not lost interest in it. Athletes pump up muscle mass, develop a program of performances, saturating it with elements and honing them to absolute perfection. Even the warm-ups are unique:

"The first hour is always a different warm-up, each of them aimed at a different muscle group, — Arina says. — The rest of the time we work on the elements of the program. I feel great in this process and I can handle the workload very well. The most difficult part for all athletes - performance training when you have to 'clean' the nuances and show a perfect performance".

Arina's efforts pay off: in her career she has won prizes at international, all-Russian and regional championships held in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Omsk, Irkutsk, Barnaul and other cities of our country. It was this rhythm of sports achievements that allowed the student to take the new status of "Master of Sports of Russia". To qualify for the prestigious title, you must score 18 points in one or three performances over the year, where at least eight athletes compete in a high category.

"I've dreamed of this since I was a little girl, and first and foremost this status gives me a reason to be proud of myself and helps me know that I'm successful in achieving my goals", — she said.

For the past year, Arina's sports life has steadily accompanied her pursuit of teaching. The choice of a non-sporting specialty for her was obvious: foreign languages have been attracting her for a long time, and she wanted to succeed not only on the mat. However professional pedagogical competence and soft skills, acquired in high school, also help in sports: since the new academic year, the student will start coaching in the Sports Complex. In addition, the future teacher has plans to join the TSPU aerobics team.

"AUGUST.PRO: MATRIX OF PEDAGOGICAL CHANGES"

Regional Pedagogical Forum "August.PRO: matrix of pedagogical changes" was held in Tomsk on August 18-20. Rector of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University Andrey Nikolaevich Makarenko and specialists of the university joined the opening ceremony and expert sessions.

Russian Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov started the forum by addressing the participants. He summed up the results of the past academic year and emphasized the contribution of teachers to the educational process in a difficult epidemiological period:

"Thanks to the daily selfless work of teachers we became one of the countries in the world that managed to minimize the impact of the pandemic on school educational processes. Everything we do proves that we have no plans to close schools, that we will never allow the distance format to replace the live dialogue between the teacher and the student, to replace the traditional system of education".

At the plenary session of the forum, Lyudmila Mikhailovna Ogorodova, Deputy Governor of the Tomsk Region for Scientific and Educational Complex and Digital Transformation, raised a number of important issues:

"The main point of consolidation of our efforts is to create conditions for upbringing a harmoniously developed and socially responsible personality. The education system, first and foremost, should help the child to get high educational results, which absolutely everyone is capable of"

Teaching communities play a leading role in improving the quality of education, according to the speaker. Professional associations of teachers have been actively created that help each other. A special role in this matter is assigned to Tomsk universities, that is why the region's funding for the construction of the student campus has been confirmed.

The first day of the Forum offered the participants an opportunity to get involved in 26 activities in five topical areas:

  • "Quality Management;
  • "Digital maturity";
  • "Education. Comfort and Safety";
  • "Educator Professional Growth;
  • "Working with Talent."

They were attended by more than four thousand participants, including online, from different regions of Russia.

Presentations were made by Andrei Nikolaevich Makarenko, Rector of Tomsk State Pedagogical University, Irina Borisovna Grabtsevich, Head of Department of General Education of Tomsk region, Yuri Vladimirovich Kalinyuk, Head of Department of Professional Education of Tomsk region.

In his report "Development of Teacher Education: Global Challenges and Regional Scenarios" Rector of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University Andrei Nikolaevich Makarenko outlined the main scenarios of modern teacher education. On the one hand, the system of pedagogical education is transforming under the influence of global and national demands, but on the other hand, it has its own specifics, determined by the peculiarities of the region and regional labor market.

The Tomsk State Pedagogical University is one of the main providers of teachers at different levels of education in the Tomsk region: from pre-school to general and secondary professional education. In order to develop pedagogical education and resolve personnel issues in the region, the University implements key directions, including the creation of a network of basic schools, development of psychological and pedagogical classes ( by 2024 is planned to open 43 of them), the opening of a pedagogical technopark (2021) and pedagogical quantorium (2022), whose functional goals are to become agents of new pedagogical technologies distribution in the regional educational space, which will result in an increase in number and improvement of "quality" of teaching personnel.

A.N. Makarenko paid special attention to the possibilities of master's degree education at the TSPU. Today the university is implementing 32 educational programs with 1,443 students. The most in-demand ones are: "Practical psychology and pedagogy", "Logopedics", "Pedagogy and psychology of inclusive education", "Management in education" (TSPU, TSU), "State and municipal management". In 2022 it is expected to launch new positions related to the introduction of new professions - teacher-methodologist, teacher-mentor, director's advisor on educational work. Master's education will allow you to form new and demanded competencies on already received profession, to receive a new profession in the adjacent to your specialty or another sphere. And, of course, the master's program is the driver of the intensive professional trajectory of teacher's development in scientific, teaching, or management spheres.

At the end of his speech, the rector of the TPSU noted that "to improve the quality of teacher education we need to work together: the university and the teaching community. I urge all of you to actively engage in interaction with our university. We are always open to your suggestions because today Tomsk State Pedagogical University is an open university that is ready both for changes and collegial solutions to important issues of modern pedagogical education.

"BIG BANG TERRITORY" OR THE LOUDEST EVENT OF THE SUMMER FROM THE TEAM OF THE TSPU

Every year at the height of the summer season the team of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University organizes a platform for young, ambitious and active people who meet at the "Mayovka" rally of working youth of Tomsk. Students and staff of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University traditionally hold this event for specialists of different organizations of the city. In 2021 the event was dedicated to the Year of Science and Technology in Russia.

The originator of Mayovka is Dmitry Borisovich Nasonov, vice-rector for youth policy and educational work of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University, who has been heading the festival of creativity, sports, and talent for all 13 years. The purpose of the rally is to establish and strengthen professional, cultural, and creative ties between working youth of the city.

"'Mayovka' is the format that allows you to create a community of working youth, to pull them out of enterprises, from behind computers, which in sometimes difficult in the everyday life", - says the head of the Department of Youth Policy of the Tomsk City Administration Alexander Vladimirovich Lisitsyn.

The theme of "Mayovka-2021" was dedicated to the Russian's Year of Science and Technology, that is why the new season was called "The territory of the big bang":

"We always try to keep up with the times and listen to our participants, so some stages were excluded, and each team competition was evaluated separately. This year there were also new nominations and, accordingly, new cups - for cheerleading, hospitality, and media", — says organizer Irina Titova, who graduated from the TSPU in 2021.

Eleven teams took part in the rally: Home Credit Bank, Tomskneftekhim, Siberian Chemical Company, Central Bank, ELKE AUTO, Russian Post, Sber, Mikran, Research Institute of Semiconductor Devices, Tomsk Beer and Transneft - Western Siberia. Each of them was accompanied for two days by a mentor from among the TSPU students.

"The task of the mentor was to orient their team in the program of events and even in everyday things. For example, where to get firewood and clean water. In addition, the mentors actively participated in the games and trials", — notes Karina Pendiak, a student of the Faculty of History and Philology.

However, the students of the TSPU had a much wider range of responsibilities: the guys were also engaged in writing the script and conducting events. While employees of Tomsk organizations competed in creativity, sports, and talents, students of the TSPU were busy training themselves: in addition to developing and conducting a large-scale mixer for acquaintance and team-building, large thematic role-playing games, which will add new formats to the methodological "piggy bank" of future teachers, students actively interacted with participating teams, developing communication skills and stress resistance, learning to overcome difficult situations and quickly solve problems.

"Mayovka" was held for two days filled with competitive tests. The first day assessed the teams' preparation in terms of creativity: "Gostevanie", where participants prepared a camp and their team mascots; "Business card" - presentation of their organization; "Science.Lab", which offered scientific problems from the mad professor.

The second day was devoted to sports tests: teams competed in strength, agility, and attentiveness. Participants overcame a hiking trail, where they needed not only physical skills, but also logic and wit: the teams were looking for pieces of a special cipher at each stage. After cheerleading, where the jury assessed not only the coherence of movements, synchronicity and dynamics of the performances, but also the unity of the teams. Tug-of-war and lifting weights summed up the second day.

By the results, the winners in different nominations were decided. The Home Credit Bank team won the Friendship Cup, the main prize of any competition. Guys from NIIPP were the most sporty and took the Sports Cup and the Cheerleading Cup, the Creativity Cup went to Siberian Chemical Company, in the competition "Go-Go" the first place went to Transneft - Western Siberia, the most cohesive team was Tomsk beer, and the best video was prepared by employees of ELKE AUTO. According to the results Transneft - Western Siberia became the first, and the Hamburg account prize was awarded to Mikran.

"Mayovka" was established 13 years ago and still unites the ambitious, bright, and active young people of Tomsk. In the future the project is going to reach a wider scale: there are more and more organizations in Tomsk that want to get to the rally.

FROM THE YOUTH SPORTS SCHOOL TO THE "SPORTS ELITE".

More than a hundred applications were received for the annual regional contest "Sports elite" in 2021. The commission evaluated the achievements of Tomsk athletes and coaches and announced the list of winners in numerous nominations. Among the best are the students of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University.

The competition has been held regularly since 1993 to promote sports. Head of the Regional Department of Youth Policy, Physical Culture and Sports Maksim Maksimov said that this year "Sports Elite" was presented in eight main categories: "Best Athlete", "Best Team", "Best Coach", "Best Referee", "Best Specialist of Sports Team", "For Service to Sports", "Sports Propaganda", "Sports Patron". Winners were also determined in a number of other categories, including "Overcoming" (for athletes with disabilities), "Olympic Hope" and "Sports Hope" (for young promising athletes).

In order to participate in the contest the only thing that was needed is the application. An important condition was the first and prize-winning places at competitions of different levels. Protocols from competitions were also required as proof of results. For each victory, the nominee was awarded a certain number of points. As noted by the students of the TSPU, the most valuable were victories at higher level competitions - championships and world championships.

Brothers Dmitry and Ivan Cherkashin, students of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sport, were among the winners: Dmitry took the nomination "Best Athlete in Non-Olympic Sports" and Ivan took the nomination "Sports Hope". Students of the third year have been engaged in kettlebell lifting since they were 10 years old under the guidance of the coach of the highest category Timofeev Nikolai Aleksandrovich. At first trainings were necessary for gaining muscle mass and development of power and endurance. Later, children's hobby grew into a serious big sport.

"Like all the nominees, I gave my best shot. I had to face injuries and hardships: sometimes I wanted to go for a walk, but I had to restrict myself in order to get a good sleep and recover. On this hard way I had close people by my side who supported me and didn't let me give up", — said Dmitry.

The place among the winners in the category "Olympic hope" was taken by judoist, student of the TSPU Askarova Alexandra. The girl has engaged in the sports club "Siberia". Last season was more difficult for her than others: the athlete was injured at the Russian championship in Murmansk.

"It was nice to hear about my victory in the competition! I really want to get back on track as soon as possible. Rehabilitation is going well. I hope that soon I will be able to compete for the highest places at all Russian and international competitions", — she told the SportLatat correspondent.

Dmitry Striga, a second-year student of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sport, won the nomination "Best Athlete in Olympic Sports". Dmitry has impressive experience - 23 years. The young man reached the professional level in weightlifting at the age of 14, taking part in the competitions for the Russian national team. Since 2014, the athlete performs for Tomsk and trains to this day under the guidance of Bolshoi Alexander Vladimirovich, who is also a graduate of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports of TSPU. Dmitry is especially proud of his performances at the 2016 and 2017 Russian championships, where he took first place. According to the athlete, these competitions were the most important and highest in status.

"To be in the top ten of the strongest is very honorable. In weightlifting, only three people made it to the winners. There were strong competitors in other sports, such as track-and-field athletics", — said Dmitry.

In addition to Dmitry Striga the best athlete in Olympic sports was Baranova Alena, also a student of Physical Culture and Sport, who does cross-country skiing. And Oleg Khoroshkov, a first-year student of the TSPU's Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, became the winner in the category "Overcoming" (sport for the hearting impairment). The young man is engaged in curling.

Athletes are helped to reach such heights not only by their sensitive coaches, but also by the Tomsk State Pedagogical University, which creates all conditions for high-quality training, where theory is in harmony with practice, and victories and achievements are made.
