TSPU STUDENT WON BRONZE MEDAL AT THE RUSSIAN KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP
The Russian Karate Championship, the main tournament of 2020 in adult category has ended in Yekaterinburg. A bronze medal in the 50 kg category was won by Anna Skvortsova, a student of the Institute of Childhood of the TSPU.
For four days, Russian athletes competeded with each other. The TSPU student competed in the kumite discipline and went through three fights, losing only to the current champion from Bashkortostan:
“I fought with really strong opponents, the fights were very tense. In the first fight I lost with a score of 6: 3, then in the fight for the bronze I won 6: 0 against rival from Tyumen, and then won against rival from Moscow with a score of 7: 2".
Anna admits that she treated each fight as she fougt for the last time in her life, tying to work at full strength. Regular independent training, which had to be carried out at home during the pandemic wave, helped her stay in shape:
“During self-isolation, I trained on my own twice a day. As soon as the restrictions were lifted, we continued to work with the team and coach Ruslan Muradalievich Apaev, whom I thank for the training".
According to the results of the competition, Anna became a member of the Russian national karate team. Now the athlete has to prepare for the European Championship, which will be held in May in Sweden.
