The first month of summer is about to end, which means that the Tomsk State Pedagogical University is  preparing for the start of the admission campaign 2016. Traditionally TSPU is one of the first institutions of the city, opening its doors for applicants. And this year is no exception: on Monday, June 20 starting at 9.00 a.m the acceptance board will be ready to answer any questions of school and college leavers as well as to tell future students about the features of each of the ten faculties of the university and, of course, help with registration of necessary documents. Reception of application to the Tomsk State Pedagogical University will be proceed until 26 July for the applicants who apply on the basis of Unified State Examination results, and until July 14 for the applicants who apply on the basis of results of TSPU tests. Meetings with representatives of the admission board TSPU, as well as the application for admission to the university will be held in the main building of Tomsk State Pedagogical University (60 Kievskaya St. Tomsk, Russia, 634061).

Department for Economic Theory of the Faculty of Economics and Management of TSPU tin cooperation with the Center of youth tourism of TSPU organized a workshop on the creation of innovative platforms for pupils and students on the basis of Semiluzhensky village. The main objective of the lesson was to study the Siberian cultural traditions. As part of the workshop students have got to know the life of people of the XVII century, have tried to create antient objects of everyday life (like poker), have put on an old Russian armor of the XIX and XX centuries. Students saw Semiluzhinsky village, as a resource for tourism and recreation destination and proposed options for further cooperation with Vladimir Ilyin - head of Semiluzhensky villalge. The result of this event was a joint project to promote the cultural and historical values and meanings of the national culture. This project - a contribution to the promotion of  Tomsk as a promising region for internal tourism.

Today we celebrate 125 birthday of Russian Soviet writer, storyteller, playwright Alexander Volkov, who completed "Mathematics" course at theTomsk Pedagogical Institute.Everyone knows Volkov's famous tale "The Wizard of Oz", but only few realize that it is written about our city Tomsk. Alexander had this idea back in 1907, when the future writer, arrived in Tomsk from Ust-Kamenogorsk (Kazakhstan), completed the training course and became student of the Tomsk Teachers' Institute (now Tomsk State Pedagogical University). After graduating and getting permission to teach in  higher primary schools, Volkov returned to his native Ust-Kamenogorsk, and became teacher in the school from which he earlier graduated. The desire to deepen the knowledge of foreign languages has motivated the author to  ranslate popular book by F. Baum "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." The result of these labors was the publication of "The Wizard of Oz" in 1939 with its own additions, taken from his student's life. During the period of three years in Tomsk, Alexander Volkov drew attention to the cultural distinctiveness of our city: original, picturesque wooden architecture attracted the attention by unique glittering ornaments. As in a fairy tale, the writer was inspired by skill and grace of Siberian craftsmen. A true Emerald City!

On 9 and 10 June 2016 the students of 723 group of the Faculty of Economics and Management of TSPU have undergone the defence of their final qualifying works.The development of domestic tourism was the main topics of the works. There were a lot of interesting ideas: Zhurova Christina  has tested a project together with the Center of youth tourism on the basis of Semiluzhensky village with the assistance of school students (high school number 6) and university students, Freyr Lyudmila has presented an interuniversity project  and confirmed its implemintation in TSU (at the Department of English Philology), she suggests further development of the project durisng her magistracy.Freyer's project - is a complete solution for the development of international cooperation between the State Pedagogical University and Tsukuba (Japan). Work of Geyer Maria is of informational purposes and is aimed for Tomsk educational institutions, this project has been tested on the basis of "Russian-German House" with the support of Germany and Tomsk Oblast Administration. Works by Vahina Maria are already used in the Center of youth tourism and can form the basis for tourism and recreational programs of regional level.Final qualifying work aimed at the development of domestic tourism in Tomsk. They reflect the identity and uniqueness of the Tomsk region and methodical provision allows involvement of travel agencies. Graduate students have prepared a large number of handouts, posters, models and prototypes. All students have presented their topics on conferences (4 articles on average). To continue their research students have expressed readiness to apply admission for the "Tourism" program of magistracy course on a competitive basis.

The team of Tomsk State Pedagogical University took part in the first championship for sports garbage picking, that was held in the Lagernyi garden of Tomsk. More than 50 participants gathered 1.1 tons of garbage from the territory of the garden within one hour. The idea of such event was borrowed from Japan during the visit of Tomsk oblast deligation in Tokyo last year, where similar tournaments have been held for more than a decade.Japanese Sports Federation for garbage picking decided to hold the first foreign champoinship in Tomsk. The organizing committee of the regional center has chosen Lagernyi garden as a place where championship will take place, because, according to them apart from being this a socially significant for the city, this area is also safe, since it was treated against ticks. According to Kenichi Mamitsuka, the president of the Japanese Federation for sports garbage picking and initiator of such events, the goal of this competition is to solve the problem of waste due to the activity of citizens.

«Tomsk is a beautiful city, but no matter how beautiful one city may be there is always garbage laying around. We see the trash - not as waste, but as an object for sports competitions. We arrived in your town just yesterday, but already realized that Tokyo and Tomsk have a common problem - cigarette butts, "- said Kenichi Mamitsuka. Before the start, he had promised to give a special prize from the Japanese federation to the team that will bring the largest number of cigarette butts, 

A total of 11 teams have participated in championship, among them were students of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University that are studying Japanese.

In June, the Tomsk State Pedagogical University has launched educational activities in the framework of the Summer School of Humanities and language, which is organized for the fourth time by the department of foreign languages of TSPU linguistics together with the management and the department of Foreign Languages of Tomsk municipal school № 18. The first day of the course was devoted to students' acquaintance with the past and present of TSPU: they have visited the museum complex of TSPU, met with representatives of the aceptance board and the staff of the University Scientific Library. Further, according to the plan of the Summer School, kids will start practical training at English language, which will be hold by senior lecturer in linguistics M. A Ohanyan and 5th-year student of the 204 group A. S. Borisova. The knowledge gained in the classroom of TSPU Summer School will come in handy in the intellectual competition "Your Game", which will be the final event of ihe Summer School.

On 6 June the expert committee has revealed the results of XVI All-Russian competition in advertising and PR «Crystal Orange». More than 2000 projects from various regions of Russia were submitted. Students, together with graduates of the Faculty of psychology, public relations and advertising have presented two projects - «The Wizard of Oz» which is associated with the positioning of Tomsk as the city with a special literary biography through popularization of works by Volkov - children's storyteller, writer, graduate of the Tomsk Teachers' Institute - and «ART-CHAOS. Garbage wind» - environmental project, whose main purpose is to draw attention to environmental problems and the problem of excessive consumption by creating art objects from the garbage. On the first stage, both projects have won the regional round of the XVI All-Russian competition of advertising and PR «Crystal Orange» and took the first places in the corresponding categories (December 2015). On the second stage projects of Tomsk State Pedagogical University have received recognition of the Expert Jury on the All-Russian level. «The Wizard of Oz» was awarded the Diploma of III degree in the category «Public relations, advertising and media technology in culture and art». The «ART-CHAOS. Garbage Wind» project has won the Grand Prix, the Laureate Diploma and became one of the three main winners of the XVI All-Russian competition in advertising and PR «Crystal Orange».

Employees of Tomsk State Pedagogical University have received two androids robots, which are going to take part in cybersoccer world champinonship in 2018. According to TASS, six robots for the teams, represented by three universities of Tomsk, were purchased for federal funds received by territorial innovation cluster of Tomsk region "Pharmaceutical products, medical equipment and information technology." The total amount of state support estimated to 196.6 million rubles, a single robot costs more than one million rubles. Android robots are innovative high-tech machines that perform wide rage of tasks.

The Tomsk State Pedagogical University will mark the first week of summer 2016 by the active collaboration with the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD. On 6 June 2016 the grand opening of the international forum dedicated to the 20th anniversary of collaboration between the Tomsk State Pedagogical University and colleagues from Germany was held in TSPU.

"Dear colleagues, we are pleased to welcome you on this celebration, which is not by coincidence organized here in Tomsk. Our city - one of the oldest centres of education, science and culture beyond the Urals. Now Tomsk can be proud of five major universities, each of which is listed in tops of the ten different ratings in a different direction, and are considered as one of Russia's leading universities. Tomsk State Pedagogical University is among the three leading pedagogical universities in the country and ranks first among the Russian pedagogical universities in the "University brand" rating. Our scientific schools are known both in Russia and abroad: TSPU is among the ten leading Russian universities in citation index, including international citation index, and takes a well-deserved first place among pedagogical universities in this regard. A wide range of international connections plays a huge role in our educational process.Regarding the fraction of foreign students studying at our university we take the first place in Russia. 16% of students of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University are foreign citizens and this supports the positive status of a university, not only in Russia but also abroad. The role of international relations is great: because of them, students have the opportunity for further self-realization. Today we celebrate the anniversary - 20 years of cooperation with DAAD. This event is an important milestone, which as we hope will popularize this filed of university activity, as well as the development of cooperation with the DAAD and with Germany as a whole!"- welcomed the participants of the forum Constantine Evgenevich Osetrin vice-Rector for TSPU International Relations.

The ceremony was also hosted by deputy administrator of the DAAD in Moscow Charlotte Wohlfahrt, DAAD Lecturer of TSPU in the period of 2006-2008. Stefan Karsh (Humboldt University). Within the first day of the Forum a head of the language department of the Goethe Institute in Novosibirsk have presented a report "The Goethe-Institut and its activities in Russia." The participants of the event could also test their knowledge of German on different interactive platforms. Lea Völker lecturer of the DAAD at Krasnoyarsk Siberian Federal University has presented the "The use of cultural knowledge in practice" workshop. DAAD Lecturer at Ulyanovsk State University Johanna Sievers in her seminar "Heading to Germany: scholarships, motivation letter, CV"  told about the opportunities of students specializing in languages and wiling to do an internship abroad. Judith Merkushev, DAAD lecturer at the Moscow State Pedagogical University in the lesson "German for Beginners" taught the basics of German to those participants who are just beginning to study the German language.Viktor Richter, the consul general of Germany in Novosibirsk has joined the forum in the afternoon. Accompanied by representatives of TSPU, the guests made a tour of the historic body of Tomsk State Pedagogical University, answered questions about the future cooperation between DAAD and the Tomsk Pedagogical, stressing  the necessity for such interaction. After the cultural program Viktor Richter addressed the participants and guests of the forum with a report "German Foreign Cultural Policy", but before doing this he had welcomed the audience: "Dear guests, students, teachers, I am pleased to speak to you today! This is my second visit to Tomsk, a beautiful student city, which is always a pleasure to visit, especially today since its the 20th anniversary of cooperation between the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD representatives with the Tomsk State Pedagogical University. Сome to Tomsk to celebrate this event is a great honor for me. First of all I'm here to congratulate all of us with long-term cooperation and wish to further strengthen of the alliance. I think this is our common desire, a common goal! "

International form in TSPU will last for three days. Within the next few days specialists of DAAD are going to organize interactive workshops "Destination of escape. Role-play about the situation with refugees in the world", "How to write captions? - A seminar for future teachers and translators", "Choral singing workshop" and intercultural training. 

On the eve of Russia's Day, which is celebrated in our country on June 12, the governor of Tomsk region Sergey Zhvachkin has awarded the citizens of Tomsk and Tomsk region with state and regional awards. Dmitry Borisovich Nasonov, vice-rector for youth policy and educational work of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University, was awarded with the "Patriot of Russia" medal, which was solemnly presented by the head of the region.The ceremony was visited by the deputy governor, the representatives of the real sector of the economy, scientific and educational complex, social sphere. In a congratulatory speech Sergey Anatolievich noted that in 1990 the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Russia initiated a new epoch in the political and economic world order. "We have opened the borders for people and private business. Our companies have entered competition on the domestic and international markets. Small and mid-sized businesses has started to develop. Russia has become increasingly integrated into the global political space. Instead one single point of view on the future of the country we were starting to have different option, laying the foundation of the first Soviet democracy. For 26 years Russia has gone through path of such political, economic social development, which other countries have succeed to overcome only in hundreds of years", - said the governor. National and regional awards were given to 26 participants. Along with a representative of Tomsk State Pedagogical University the eight other prominent figures of Tomsk and Tomsk region have been awarded with "Patriots of Russia" medals.
