The employee of the Tomsk State Pedagogical University, executive officer of Staff of the Civil Defense, the Commissioner for Civil Defense and Emergency of TSPU Anatoly Dmitrievich Zhulin was awarded the diploma of the Main Department of the Russian Ministry for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters in the Tomsk region for the diligent and effective work, quality performance of his duties and operational objectives.

According to representatives of the university around 90% of applicants who have entered Tomsk state pedagogical university in 2016 under employer-sponsored program are going to work at schools of Tomsk regions after graduation. As it was mentioned earlier: there has been significant shortage of pedagogical staff in Tomsk region during the last decades. In order to solve this problem nearly the half of 358 budgetary seats in TSPU are allocated for applicants that apply under the employer-sponsored program (employer pays for education of a student and the latter is obliged to work for the employer). "Although the Tomsk region in our main requester, we also have employer-sponsored students from other regions, like Altai and Kemerovskaya Oblast'. But still 90% of such students came from Tomsk region. We have maintained distribution system and offer job placement options to graduate students. But employer-sponsored students are ought to work at institution mentioned in the agreement" – said Andrey Mikhailichenko director of admission department and social work of TSPU.

Annual conference devoted to the results of admission campaign held in Tomsk universities took place on August 5th at RIA Tomsk agency. TSPU side was presented by Andrey Yurievich Mikhailichenko director of admission department and social work of TSPU. Although there is a one more admission wave awaiting the applicants, the majority of them (80% of applicants) have successfully enrolled in Tomsk universities. In view of that, it was possible to sum up the results of this year’s admission campaign, which were discussed during the conference.

Mikhailichenko: "According to the number of applications the statistic of the Tomsk Pedagogical remains at a high level as usual. “History” and “Social Studies" course of pedagogical education (almost 11 people for a seat) are the most popular this year; the second place is taking Special (defectological) education: "Speech Therapy" (more than 7 people for a seat) course; and finally "Physical training" course (more than 6 people for a seat). The number of students that submitted their original documents has sufficiently raised this year: last year it was around 30-35% of total applications, but today tis number estimates to 50%. It is happening because we are keep on working with educational institutions of Tomsk region and keeping eye at needs in certain specialist in certain schools. Naturally enough this year we have a large number of employer-sponsored applications, that allowed us to provide 50% enrollment to all the full-time and extramural courses. All the applicants applying for employer-sponsored positions have been already enrolled. Admission for employer-sponsored extramural courses has also finished. There were two applicants for every seat, all in all 158 students have entered the university. Average grade of applicants is significantly higher than that of last year applicants. Applicants applying for extramural employer-sponsored positions as well as for magistracy will be registered as students. Number of employer-sponsored applications (full-time education, bachelor degree courses) estimated 44% of total applications. Numbers regarding extramural courses and magistracy are likely to be little higher. As for background of applicants, mainly they came from Tomsk region and other regions (15 regions in all, the leader is Kemerovskaya Oblast'). We have applicants from Kazakhstan and other republics of Central Asia. Of course there are some applicants from far abroad: Indonesia, China, Mongolia, Vietnam. These applicants have entered under quota limit (international agreement) as well as on a universal basis. Speaking about this year’s features: a student from Feodosiya will be studying at TSPU. Deaflympics champion of 2015, goalkeeper of Russian team has also entered the university. He will be attending extramural courses since he is still an active sportsman”.

In addition to summarizing the results of the first wave of the admission campaign 2016 at TSPU Andrey Yurievich answered questions from journalists who were interested in the situation with the dormitories of the university, as well as preferred courses among the foreign applicants who applied for TSPU.

International conference on theoretical physics has started at TSPU. The conference is focused on the modern achievements in string theory, gravitation theory, cosmology, theory of physical processes in external fields. Recently the development of theoretical high-energy physics has been greatly influenced by string theory, that allows to develop an unified theory of fundamental interactions. The achievements in string theory allowed scientists to introduce a new concept of “Theory of everything” or TOE. Physics department of TSPU has been working on this problem for many years, that is why the 10th annual international conference devoted to the latest achievements in theoretical physics took place at Tomsk state pedagogical university. According to the string theory, the primary structural elements of nature are not the elementary point particle, as was commonly thought, but the elementary unidimensional extended objects, called strings.

One of the organizers of the conference, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Theoretical Physics Joseph Buchbinder told TV 2 channel, why in modern science pays so much attention to string theory: "String theory attempts to explain all existing fundamental physical theories by using common principles. String in not a point object, therefore it may perform internal vibrations. It is like when you're pulling a string and it starts making waves. These internal vibrations of a string can be interpreted as ordinary particles like photons and electrons. Phenomena of electromagnetism and gravitation can be explained by strings theory. Unfortunately, the main predictions of string theory refer to high energy, that cannot be achieved in today’s experiments. Such energies involved in creation of Universe.”

For the first time TSPU has received an application for employer-sponsored education from the Saratov Region. A young man joined the faculty of history and philology of TSPU. In Tomsk he is going to get a pedagogical education in "Russian language" and "Literature". "There are more students applying for employer-sponsored education compared to the previous year. Among them students from Tomsk region, Kemerovo region, Tyva Republic, Gorny Altai and so on. For the firs time we have received an application from the Saratov Region, the most distant region for now" – said Roman Ritter, chef of the TSPU admission campaign. Around 358 state-funded places are allocated for employer-sponsored education in 2016. According to the contract, the future employer is paying for education of students. In case of municipal schoolteachers, the state is taking role of the employer. In turn an employer-sponsored student is obliged to spend some time working for the facility, that “ordered” him.

At the beginning of August the annual international conference on theoretical physics "Quantum field theory and gravitation" will start at TSPU. This year the event organized by the Centre for theoretical physics of TSPU and held at TSPU facilities will mark its 10th anniversary. The conference is devoted to discussion of the latest achievements in the gauge field theory, supersymmetric quantum field theory, string theory, the theory of higher-spin fields, gravitation, cosmology, theory of physical processes in external fields. Scientists from Moscow, Dubna, Protvino, Kazan, Novosibirsk, Tomsk will gather in TSPU in order to participate in the conference. Among the foreign participants there will be speakers from Armenia, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Britain, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, USA, France, Czech Republic, South Korea, Japan. The conference program will include both presentations by famous Russian and foreign scientists, including summaries of current and rapidly developing fields of modern theoretical physics, and scientific reports by young scientists. Ivan Klein has monitored the activities of students' teams involved in TPSU project “Summer in the city”. All summer long TSPU students have been working with kids who could not spend holiday at camps or out of town. Games, workshops and sport events are being organized for such kids. Around one thousand children are involved in such events. A total of 24 TSPU students are engaged in “Summer in the city” project in 2016. There are eight playgrounds that are operating simultaneously (two for each district) that makes 32 playgrounds for four seasons. Chef of administration for youth policy Yevgeny Vagner told mayor that each playground was inspected by the city hall specialists to make sure that they safe and suitable for such events. “On average we have 20-30 kids on each playground and around 800-1000 kids per year. We try to find a balance between districts, but sometimes it’s not so easy to do: for instance in August there are more playgrounds in Lenin and Oktyabrsk districts” – Vagner said. The first playground visited by mayor was the one situated at Teacher’s square on 60 Kievskaya Street. Ivan Klein talked with the leader of students’ team Ekaterina Shaikhullina. She told that students work with children form 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., organize games, sport events, workshops. This year “Summer in the city” project is devoted to Russian cinema. Kids took pictures with mayor and presented him a handmade postcard.

“We have been realizing this project since 2006, - said dean of the pedagogical department of TSPU Galina Titova. – There are students who for some reason could not travel to camps in order to undergo their practice, so they do it here instead. There are some first year students who already wish to work with children. We encourage them and give all the necessary information. During the summer around 40-60 students have involved in the project. The main condition – is suitable playground, a place where children could run, play with a ball, sit down and cover from rain. We also pay attention to the safety of playgrounds." Then mayor has visited the playground of the project in the oil, 11. Six houses of the neighborhood is home to 424 children, and the playground is equipped with hundreds of games and sports items. "It is a good form of recreation for children. In TGPU here its goals, the administration - on your own. The main thing - it is the interests of the children, to give them the opportunity to take themselves the necessary useful work, to involve them in the social life of the city. Security is also important. If for some reason it was not possible to go to camp outside the city, then the children while parents are at work, not themselves supplied. They are under the supervision of counselors who have experience, who receive specialized education ", - said Klein.

He added that the city authorities will consider expanding the geography of the project sites "City Summer". Students and employees of the faculty of history and philology of Tomsk state pedagogical university along with the representatives of Shatilov Tomsk regional museum and colleagues from Tomsk state university have visited Kulaika mountain in Chainsk area of the Tomsk region. The goal of the trip was to inspect the results of archeological dig that was carried out by large group of students headed by Dmitry Y. Rybakov, candidate of historical sciences, assistant of department of archaeology and ethnology of TSPU. The group has visited the camp of the archeological expedition situated in picturesque spot near the Chai river. Rybakov conducted a little excursion, showed dig sites and shared his thoughts on the possibility of detection of Kulai bronze in the area of Kulaika mountain (where it once jutted out into the river and raised above its waters). It was exciting to be acquainted with exposition of the Museum if Kulai culture in Podgorny village. At present time there is only a small area has left from the famous mountain, its crest is dangerously hanging at the great height and the large part of it had fallen in river this spring. It is dangerous to walk on the top of the mountain and remained part of it is having no prospects for archeological works. Students had to deal with a very hard terrain – clay. Among the findings made in one of the dig sites there were silicic sliver, knife-shaped plate that are evidence of human presence in this area, probably in late Stone Age. Students and teachers have also visited Podgorny branch of Tomsk regional museum – Museum of Kulai archeological culture. This museum is living full and productive life full of tours, workshops and lessons. The number of exhibits is constantly rising thanks to the enterprising employees.

The “Worried parents” project, which was supported by the Tourist informational center of Tomsk administration, was finished on 15 July. 12 tours for applicants and their parents were held in scope of the project. Students of the economic theory of the economic and management faculty (head of the faculty professor V.V. Sizov) of TSPU (Irina Nikitina and Nataliya Gorina) have showed and told about one of the leading pedagogical universities in Russia in interesting and entertaining way. They told about history of TSPU, described the application procedure, showed the educational facilities, library, faculty of additional professions and other objects. This projects is going to take place each year and all the institutes of higher education and secondary specialized colleges will be involved.

Sergey Markovich Pergamenshchikov, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics of the Rouen University (France) have visited TSPU within the scope of joint project between the Center for additional physical and mathematical and natural education of TSPU and Tomsk physicotechnical vocational school. During the first days of the rich event schedule our dear guest has acquainted with the Pedagogical university: he has visited TSPU exhibit rooms and museums, which offer a detailed hindsight of educational, scientific, social and international activities of the University. After the tour Mr. Pergamenshchikov had a meeting with the rector of TSPU Valery Obukhov. During the meeting, counterparts have discussed meaning and prospects of cooperation between TSPU and TSU in the field of mathematics popularization, attraction of talented youth to physical and mathematical and engineering directions of Tomsk universities. Being Tomsk born, Sergey Markovich often comes to his home town and carries out lectures and workshops. The recent visit was no exception: professor had given a lecture and met with students, teachers and postgraduate students of physical and mathematical faculties of TSPU and touched upon subject of mathematical application of statistics probability theory regarding to economics, logistics, video and photo processing, game theories etc. He also told about tasks mathematician deals with, compared educational systems of Russia and France, told about joint education programs of Rouen and Tomsk universities. We found that Sergey Markovich is related to TSPU: his father worked at mathematics department of TSPU and Sergey Markovich himself had graduated from Tomsk school №48, where today the Scientific library of TSPU is situated. Professor has shared his memories and was amazed by great condition of building and modern facilities of library as well as by all the possibilities for independent work of the future teachers. He even made a note in the book of honored guests in the hall of rare editions of TSPU library. 

Such meetings with famous promoters of science, researchers in mathematics and physics are regularly organized by TSPU as part of physico-mathematical activities for teachers and students. Such meetings with the teachers studying at master's programs of physics and mathematics, performing teaching practice, applied as new format. Students develop and carry our mathematics clubs on the basis of Tomsk school as part of their practice. Experience of successful teachers will help teaching staff to design and implement new learning methods in their schools, to promote fulfilling of Federal state educational standards and Concept of mathematical development in Tomsk region.
