Chinese Students at TSPU Host a Series of Workshops and a History Session for Schoolchildren

On October 28, the Center for Professional Development hosted an event aimed at strengthening Russian-Chinese friendship and cultural and educational ties. Guided by Irina K. Zabrodina, Deputy Director of the Institute of Foreign Languages and International Cooperation at TSPU, Chinese students introduced schoolchildren to Chinese culture, traditions, and history.

The first workshop was dedicated to the founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China at the first of October. The students explored Chinese writing and learnt how to draw characters.

The second workshop introduced Chinese traditions through games. Scool students played "broken Telephone" game, passing words along in Chinese, and a ball game that helped them quickly memorize introductory phrases. These activities helped break down the language barrier and create a relaxed atmosphere.

The third part of the program was an educational session devoted to the Second Sino-Japanese War of 1937–1945. The session was led by Chinese students at TSPU and they spoke about how ordinary people became heroes, at what cost victory was achieved, and why the memory of these events remains important for modern China. The narrative was built as a living conversation: the students shared what they had heard from their elders and how this memory is preserved in their country.

An important part of the session was the screening of historical films. Schoolchildren felt the scale of the tragedy and the resilience of the people..

At the end of the session, the children asked the students questions. They asked about everything—from Chinese people's favorite foods in Russia to questions about China's economy. The students gladly shared their personal experiences and interesting details.

Finally, the children were invited to join the Institute of Foreign Languages and International Cooperation at TSPU and their sincere «yes» was the best confirmation that such meetings truly inspire and open new horizons

А в завершение ребят пригласили поступать в ИИЯМС ТГПУ – и их искреннее «да» стало лучшим подтверждением того, что такие встречи действительно вдохновляют и открывают новые горизонты.

The program fully aligns with the objectives of the Russian Ministry of Education for developing international cooperation. It stands as a striking example of how knowledge of history and respect for the memory of the past become a solid foundation for friendship between peoples. After all, Russia and China are linked not only by modern partnership but also by a mutual desire to understand each other, value others' experience, and build the future together.
