TSPU Strengthens Cooperation with Karaganda Buketov University
Tomsk State Pedagogical University continues to expand its international partnerships. As part of this work, Natalia Semenova, Director of TSPU’s Institute for the Development of Teacher Education, visited Karaganda Buketov University in Kazakhstan.
One of Kazakhstan’s leading universities, Karaganda Buketov Research University has been a partner of TSPU in a number of academic initiatives, including its Guest Lectures project.
In 2022, Svetlana Pozdeeva, Professor of Education at TSPU, delivered a series of lectures on metamethodology for the university’s faculty members. In April and May 2026, Natalia Semenova continued this collaboration through both online and in-person sessions. Her course, “Research and Project-Based Learning at Different Levels of Education: Approaches, Organization, and Support,” attracted considerable interest among colleagues in Kazakhstan.
During her visit, Natalia Semenova worked with faculty members and doctoral students of the university’s Faculty of Education. She also visited the university’s museums, library, coworking spaces, educational centers, and technopark.
«We discovered many similarities in our approaches to education and research ,— Natalia noted. — We share common views on educational development, use similar management and infrastructure solutions, and face many of the same challenges. This creates a strong foundation for future cooperation».
The visit also provided an opportunity to take part in discussions of ongoing research projects and to learn more about the cultural traditions that play an important role in university life.
«The environment forms us, — notes Saltanat Altaevna Mulikova, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, and professor. — That is precisely why we place great emphasis on visual elements that convey symbolism with deep meanings, reflecting the value of education, upbringing, and art as a unified whole».
Natalia Semenova highlighted not only the university’s educational facilities but also its approaches to student engagement, quality assurance, internships, and involving students in research and community activities.
«This was an intensive, informative, and inspiring visit, — she said. — Although my main goal was to deliver lectures for colleagues, I learned a great deal myself. I was especially impressed by the hospitality of our hosts and their openness to dialogue. The trip resulted in plans for several joint activities, which we hope will become the foundation for a long-term partnership between our universities».
