TSPU Quantorium Hosts Events for Local Students and Teachers

Last week, the Pedagogical Technopark «Quantorium» hosted a series of events for students and teachers of the region.

The program began with a session on using robotics to develop engineering thinking in preschoolers. Organized by TSPU Quantorium and the «IT-Cube» Digital Education Centre, it focused on building teachers' skills for leading technical activities with young children.

Teachers from Tomsk and the Tomsk region joined the session both in person and online. The program featured presentations showcasing effective approaches to engaging preschoolers in engineering and technical creativity, the region’s best practices, and innovative solutions for organising creative activities in robotics and other engineering fields.

«The best methods turn complex ideas into play, — said Olga Kamneva, Director of the TSPU Quantorium. — For example, building spinning tops to learn physics or joining team competitions gives children a real goal beyond the classroom».

The group outlined practical ways to nurture engineering skills in young children. The core ideas are using play-based learning, focusing on the creative process, and supporting teachers through collaborative networks.

As part of the TSPU Quantorium project «Digital or Not Digital», second-year students from the Institute of Design and Arts organized and held a TechnoBattle event for first-year students to spark their interest and creative potential in technical innovation and engineering creativity.

Participants competed in creating complex algorithms for virtual spacecraft, demonstrated high typing speed in a speed-typing contest, and completed tasks involving the use of artificial intelligence.

The series concluded with an online methodological seminar, «Modern Technologies in Education: From the Experience of Scientific and Technical Creativity», organized by TSPU Quantorium in cooperation with the «Planeta» Center for Children’s Creativity for teachers of supplementary and preschool education.

«The seminar was highly interactive. Teachers didn't just learn theory—they helped build the program, — said Olga Kamneva. — They shared their own methods through video presentations, which made the techniques concrete and easy to see».
