Study in Tomsk! project at TSPU

The career-guidance project “Study in Tomsk!” is held annually to attract talents needed for the region’s economy. In October and November 2025, delegations from Tomsk visited districts across the Tomsk Region to introduce high school students to academic programs and help them choose an optimal path for professional development.

The program was launched on 20 October at the Children and Youth Creativity Center in the town of Asino. The event was opened by Lyudmila Ogorodova, Deputy Governor for Science and Technological Development:

«The Study in Tomsk! project was designed to create an effective career-guidance infrastructure that motivates young people to select a profession and enroll in the local system of higher education, so they could build their careers in their home region».

The TSPU team visited Asino, Seversk, as well as the Shegarsky and Bakcharsky districts of the Tomsk Region.

TSPU students and staff arranged meetings with prospective applicants. Representatives of the university’s admission committee talked about the faculties and institutes, academic programs in both pedagogical and non-pedagogical fields, and answered questions about the admissions process, entrance examinations, and more.

Special attention was given to targeted enrollment opportunities. In 2025, The Tomsk State Pedagogical University opened 269 targeted places for applicants. Guaranteed positions in educational institutions of the Tomsk and Novosibirsk Regions, the Republic of Tuva, and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug are already prepared for future students. Applicants still have the opportunity to choose their desired field of study and the institution where they will begin their professional careers after graduation, supported by experienced mentors.

TSPU students and faculty also introduced schoolchildren to the university’s student self-governance system: its structures, the initiatives they support, and the opportunities that all students have — from developing soft skills to participating in competitions and events, as well as receiving grant support for student projects. Career-guidance games and workshops were held, helping participant to choose academic programs that matched their interests.

More detailed information about each program — as well as the admissions process at TSPU — is available on the university’s admissions website https://abiturient.tspu.ru.
