TSPU Rector is Laureate of National «Rector of the Year» Award

On 18–20 November, Moscow hosted the 8th Professorial Forum «Science and Education: Development Strategies», which brought together more than 1500 representatives of the academic community, universities, and the business sector. During the plenary session, the Russian Professors’ Assembly held an awards ceremony honoring the laureates of its national awards in the categories «Professor of the Year», «Dean of the Year», and «Rector of the Year». Aleksey Makarenko, Rector of Tomsk State Pedagogical University, received the «Rector of the Year» award in the «Pedagogical Universities» category.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko addressed the participants during the official ceremony.

«As our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin emphasizes, the quality of education is the foundation of national security and sovereignty. It is you, the academic community, who nurture talented specialists, systematize knowledge, and lay the groundwork for the long-term development of our country, — he said. — One of the key tasks is to unite scientific knowledge with practical application while preserving the best traditions of our national educational school. This is the exact goal of the new Education Development Strategy through 2036, which was developed under the President's guidance and with your active and direct involvement, for which we are truly grateful».

The contribution of educators to the country’s technological leadership was highlighted by Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation:.

Today, more than a quarter of our faculty are young researchers who are ready to invest their energy and talent in educating new generations of creators. For our part, we will continue to provide strong conditions for university teams to work and grow. This is the focus of our flagship initiatives: Priority 2030, the Advanced Engineering Schools project, and the national university campus construction program».

The minister hosted the national «Rector of the Year» awards and Aleksei Makarenko, Rector of Tomsk State Pedagogical University, was recognized in the category «Pedagogical Universities».

The laureates were selected based on the voting results of the Commission for the National «Rector of the Year» Award, chaired by Sergey Stepashin, President of the Association of Universities «Supporting the National Professoriate».
