TSPU Students Shine at the "Inspiration" Stage and Artistic Fencing Festival in St. Petersburg
The interregional "Inspiration" festival in St. Petersburg brought together Russian champions, world medalists in artistic fencing, and teams from across the country. Among the participants was the team from TSPU’s experimental platform, "Self-Organization of Youth Through Collective Activities in Fencing," led by Associate Professor Viktor Lobanov from the Institute of Pedagogical Education Development. The team achieved outstanding success, winning in several categories.
- Denis Bazavluk, a student at the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, took first place in the Solo category (out of 22 participants) and secured second place in the Duel category (out of 19 participants).
- Daniil Vasylyuk, a TSPU master’s program graduate and current saberfighting instructor in St. Petersburg, won second place in the Duel category.
- Andrey Ryabov, who began his artistic fencing journey as a first-year student at the Faculty of History and Philology, earned third place in the Solo category.
- The Group category was won by Anna Egorova, a student at TSPU’s Institute of Foreign Languages and International Cooperation.
The festival trip also included a rich cultural program. Students explored St. Petersburg’s historical landmarks, trained at the I.E. Siverbrik Hall-Museum of the International Academy of Fencing Arts, and visited the Hermitage Museum. They had the chance to meet prominent figures such as writer Alexander Mazin, fencing master Sergey Mishenev, and historian and cultural expert Viktor Faibisovich.
Associate Professor Viktor Lobanov also conducted seminars during the festival, covering topics like: "Improving the Quality of Fencing Scene Staging and Performance", "Features of Stage Fencing", "Changes in Saber Fencing Training Methods in the Early 20th Century".
